Autopsy Round 3, 2022: Hawks go down to the Blues

The backline was brilliant after quarter time. To concede 47 entries and only let them score 4.7 was immense.

If we could fix the midfield we would be a genuinely good team this year. Unfortunately, that is probably a 1-2 year project
We've been talking about it all off season and today we really saw it click.

From another club board.

Is anyone else annoyed kinda that the hawks win 4 flags in 8 years, sack their legendary coach burn a bunch of draft picks and yet still nearly start this year 3-0. Like can you not just be shit for 30 years like the rest of us

I already feel this loss will feel like a win tomorrow, the whole team showed so much in the fight back, with a few more skilled players to come back and match fitness into the seniors and kids returning we are a genuine finals side - not to get ahead of ourselves but if we can be consistent across each game we will challenge any side.

What is so impressive about all the new guys is the amount of one on ones they win or half the contest.

Still a work in progress but the midfield balance is being worked through, if Reeves could play 75-85% of game time by 2024 it would make the Nash play a bit more effective and not rob him of his own game, but his done well and shown he can plug the ruck need if someone goes down - but Jai and Nash are to important now for defending clearances against, already think they are ahead of most for defensive strength at stoppages, would almost play jai/Nash/jager/ward as our starting midfield with titch leading /Worpel/bramble/long as the next team (lynch and reeves to rotate ruck)

This would give better balance and wingard, McDonald, Moore and day to come through at different stoppages

Finn’s problem is that he’s just too slow - and that makes him a plodder, unfortunately.
He caused two critical turnovers in the last quarter simply because of his sluggish movement.
Also noticed he trailed in on a fair few short hit ups today

Yes, I’ve noticed this too. This needs to improve or he’ll be yet another Hawk son of a gun failure.

100% agree about him being too slow.

It's more with his decision making and disposal not being quick enough.

Not sure if he hasn't picked up the pace of AFL yet or whether this is just the way he will always be.

Yep, ZIP to do with how fast he sprints from point a to point b.
