Also that last effort by Sicily was absolutely piss poor, he should have just smashed into Weitering.

To be fair, I think part of the growth of Sicily as a player is that he's learnt when restraint is required. If he goes in hard when late to the contest he risks giving away a 50 at a very crucial moment in the game. I can see him copping it for being undisciplined if he'd gone that route, with people saying the subsequent 50 had thrown away our chances of getting back in front, so I think it was a very difficult situation at that point in time.

Given that Weitering was struggling to walk after the contest, I’m not buying into Sicily not going hard enough
I had a good view of that and he (Weitering) was pretty proppy afterwards so I couldn't really believe people were complaining about Sic not going hard enough.

Huh? Finn runs a sub 3 20metre sprint. Would be even quicker now after his sprint training in off season.

Definitely not slow. In fact, is actually quick.
If only footy was played with a stopwatch.
Did you watch the game? He was beaten for speed, looked sluggish on occasions.
Perhaps there's merit in what others are saying - that he's not reacting or thinking quickly enough.

Its like Frosty is invisible.

Clearly MVP for mine. Harry and DeKoning didnt get near it. CJ played well and he is exciting but once again his dreadful turnovers get ignored.
Frosts game has gone
to another level! Mitch was quick to correct the media in their frenzied CJ questions in his press conference.
Why is Frost invisible to Hawthorn fans?

I blame #imissfrosty

He didn't though he gave up on the contest early but that was fair he was never making it to the contest. MacDonald should've got a free kick for holding the ball

Obviously Weitering hurt himself then

Exactly what I thought. Discretion better part of valor.... could absolutely not afford to concede and be dragged deep with a 50 back in to their forward half.

Frost was very good and I was super impressed with his defensive efforts. I'd still have CJ ahead in this game but I'd add that the way Frost plays enables CJ a lot of freedom to play the way he does. Frost would currently be comfortably in the top 10 for the PCM count. Might be going under the radar externally but will be getting recognised for playing his role by the coaches.

Frosty would be one of the first picked at selection as he gives it his heart and soul.

There was a play where he slipped and McKay took the mark and Frosty was smashing his hands on the ground and screaming at himself out of frustration. The mark wasn’t paid in the end but I LOVE seeing that passion from him.

One of my favourite players since he arrived at the club. Goodwin should be ashamed of himself for publicly throwing him under the bus by using the term 'frostball' in press conferences. I reckon the image created by those public belittlings is partly why he doesn't get is just praise these days. He often makes less mistakes than our other defenders, but each mistake he makes gets framed as "frostball". Means he has to be twice as good to good the same praise others receive.

CJ is one of those rare players whose popularity transcends to supporters of all clubs. You hear nothing but praise. Never a bad word said. There is genuine love for the guy. My Hawthorn hating Uncle loathes us and yet talks glowingly of CJ.

I reckon he's already the favourite opposition player of many opposition fans. Weirdly enough CJ is almost single handedly making Hawthorn likeable.

Lucky Bruce is no longer commentating. Otherwise he would become like Cyril was to opposition supporters

Sounds like what they said during the game although I haven't caught any subsequent report.

Mitchell said in the presser that scrim made a passing comment “should be right” as if it was to be nothing. Id be surprised if it’s a month out surely?

Finn’s got rough edges but I hope we persevere with him.

Look at Kennedy from the Blues - between the Giants and the Blues he looked like an almost player for years and now in his 7th or so season it’s clicked for him.

Hopefully it doesn’t take Finn that long but his good attributes outweigh the bad - we don’t lose much by playing him each week now anyway
Initial apprenticeship as whipping boy, and hopefully premiership hero a few years down the track.

If it's a scapula, Dr Google tells me it could be anywhere from 4 weeks to 4 months, but more likely under 8 weeks depending on the exact spot and type of damage to the scapula. In the past Dr Google has tended to be more accurate than our own medical reports, but I detect a bit more transparency under the new regime, so I assume this weeks medical report will provide a pretty good estimate (and much better than Dr Google's).

Ok, I've watched this game's replay twice now - it's exciting to imagine what an elite, experienced side could do under this game plan of Sam Mitchell's.

You'd breadth a heavy sigh if you were a Carlton supporter, however, it was a legitimate coin toss in the end. I probably recounted dozens, if not a 100 actions, decisions, mistakes and 'what ifs' from the game that would have seen us won it, but alas it wasn't to be. All part of the developing process.

I am also one of those who think that the hawks got more out of that game than the Blues.
If you are like me, and believe that the scoreboard is the only stat that counts, then Hawthorn beat Carlton for 3 quarters.
We had a shocker in the first quarter, made some changes and the Blues were stymied. With that knowledge we will have their measure next time.
