Just love the way we playing the game and the way new players are backing themselves and each other. Sticking to our attack from half back after being so far behind was our own victory today.

Love the way Sammy is not trying to hide from our weaknesses and instead backing our strengths and youthful energy to give us a chance to win games of footy. Not just accepting honourable losses - we play to win!

Terrible first quarter! Hopefully the boys learn plenty from it.

”Jiath, he’s a top 10 player across the competition“

If we hadn't have gotten jumped so comprehensively, we'd have won this.

If my mother had wheels she would have been a bike. Carlton had 64 forward entries, compared to 46. That's pretty comprehensively in our favour. Probably shouldn't have been so close at the end. But all credit to the hawks probably the better team for most of the game.

None of us expected too much from us this year, which is why we didn't let ourselves get carried away after the first two weeks; we all knew a reality check was coming.

Sure there's a lot to work on; we all know the forward line needs a bit more polish and the midfield needs a LOT more depth and class. They're what you can draft and trade for.

What you can't draft and trade for is character. It would have been easy to just try to limit the damage after quarter time and keep it to 10 goals. It's what most teams would do. That's not us. That's why we fought back and nearly took it. As the inexperience becomes experience, the fumbles become solid possessions, and the near misses become accurate, it's our character that will drive all of that and take us back to glory.

Love this club.

That was easily DGB’s best game. CMac running power was very impressive including his run to pressure Docherty to get a miskick. Ward looked the much more composed than he had been previously.

Lots of promise. Some really poor moments from our defence cost us goals. Midfield was well beaten. We get that sorted and we look a good team.

We look elite when rebounding but we are definitely vulnerable with quick ball in. Good kicking inside 50 from the opposition will be our kryptonite.

Your list is the best it's been in 20 years and nearly lost to our young rebuilding side - enjoy your early finals L!

Obviously I’m devastated we lost heartbreakingly today, but it’s less about win-loss and way more about fight, commitment and endeavour right now, and we displayed all that in spades today. I expected the Blues to beat us comfortably today, and then at 1/4 time I thought they’d do us by 25 goals. They are a team way more advanced in their collective development than we are, to fight back in that manner and get to the point where we should have damn well won the thing, is very heartening.
Sammy would be really liking what he’s seeing so far. I know I am.

That and the Durdin, non-incorrect disposal call where he kicked a point were both painfully wrong.
We were told that spinning out of a tackle is considered prior opportunity. There is absolutely nothing grey about the Durdin decision. Supremely proud of the Hawks but the footy public deserve an explanation.
