Have to say i see that as the wrong way to rebuild. Kids tell you if they are ready for an AFL try out by what they do in the VFL. 4-5 changes just so you can see what kids can do just teaches bad habits by playing before they are ready. Get a game when you earn it is the way.

Some of the kids look likley and some have been up and down. A good run of VFL footy is unlikley to dent any of them development wise, premature AFL will.
Some kids play better against better opposition and you'll never know unless you give them a go. Romantic to think they'll always be standouts at lower level and force selectors hands but that's not always the case.

I think it’s a possibility, he has some tools and provides a stronger contest than Cox or Cameron.

At any rate there’s no point saying “we must do this or that urgently” as no moves can be made until the end of the season. We can sound people out but this season is for giving exposure to players and evaluating them. Decisions are to be made in the fullness of time, not with DEFCON 1 status.

Think he meant we need to sound out what maybe available and or make sure our recruiters are on the ball and aware of a pressing need in this area.

imo kruegers hands aren’t shore and reminds me of a flanker good ground skills lacking strong hards. Not sure he has good leading patterns either but this is all off limited exposure so we will see on him I guess.

obviously nothing can be done right now.

Grundy contributed as did Adams. What let their game down was poor disposal and at times decision making. Grundy looked like an uncoordinated giraffe at times with so many miskicks or look away handballs. Like the rest of the team he will learn from kat night

One of the few 4 quarter contributors for us from the match. His work rate is enormous, lots of sacrificial running. Always working hard to provide the next link in the transition.

It would be good to see mate! I probably want to see a few more games for sample first, I think the taxing style of play might get to us mid year with all the young legs we have got. Hopefully that’s where we really see the value of bringing in Wade.
We're not actually that young. Although a few injuries and we will be too young to be consistent. Just got to cross our fingers on that front.

Hi everyone like most of you i am gutted with the loss yesterday.
At the same time if we like it or not we are in rebuild mode.
In my opinion our objective in the next 3 years is to get us to a premieship window asap. Which means playing as many kids in our list, if not all to see if there up to it.
I honnestly think even if our coaches dont come out and say it, they think the same way.
If we actually flooded and played a uber defensive gane in the last quater yesterday i will tell you now we would have won.
But its about blooding the kids teaching them a system/game style first if wins come through doing this process good if they dont? sometimes you learn more from crushing defeats then wins.
i have no issue making another 4 or 5 changes this week as we need to check out all our kids in our senior list.
Bring in Johnston Macrae Kelly and after that in the following weeks bring in the rest of them.
Well said, dude. 👍

Sorry Molly that's utterly wrong - shit umpiring is shit umpiring - whether it affects the result or not.

Cats supporters will likely tell you the same and highlight specific instances where they believe they were robbed. I thought that on the whole the umpiring wasn’t that bad, certainly wasn’t the difference. Not sure why people are going there.

We all see it different ways Molly.

I've been watching and supporting the Pies for over half a century and I'm fed up with the current reactive and constantly changing to cover their stupid previous laws rules committee chimpanzees who have forgotten everything they ever knew about the game.

The rules are a mess and the umpires are now mere tools to enforce the latest nitpicking about face rule changes brought in to alleviate the mess that the previous rule changes caused.

And it isn't going to get better because the game is now officiated to make it most appealing to the biggest cross sections of viewing and betting audiences possible.

The game is no longer owned by the fans and supporters - the AFL sold it to the betting shops and media and the umpires are their enforcement arms.

Rant over.

Yep. Challenges need to be achievable for development to occur. There's no development benefit in setting kids up to fail, which is what occurs when you play too many kids at once before they're ready.

One of the worst aspects of footy. As Gabbo would ruefully observe ‘Just wondering what whinging achieves.’

50% is not acceptable for a player of his years and talent - it really comes down to fatigue - which is caused by an insufficient tank.
His ball use was excellent the first two weeks. This game was a fair bit hotter, so I expect a few were statistically down on this front.

No argument he wasn't on his own - I don't get what the hyper sensitivity is around here regarding him. It's his own fault that he isn't fully up to speed on the preseason.

Let's face his best is fantastic but he's prone to show boat and still hasn't got a tank - it's not just this year either.

That is true but so is GCs point imo it needs a player by player assessment. Imo Henry fits GCs bill where as Daicos, Reef and Poulter should have games pumped into them.

Thanks Captain Obvious…………but you don’t lose a game 30 points up in the last……..rebuild or not.

Point me in the direction of teams that have lost by 2 goals after being 30 points up at the start of the 4th in recent history.
