I’m surprised no one has mentioned the sub in Dahlhaus, his fresh legs certainly helped give them some extra run in the last. We could of done with fresh legs for Steele imo if the opposition use it then you should be allowed to also activate yours.

I think teams will be fearing us by the end of this year tbh. Despite the loss, this game has made a believer of me. I think we can mix it with the best this year. We won’t go all the way but I think we will be there competing at the start of September.

McCrae in his press mentioned it wasn't fitness at all. Interesting to see how they can address the fadeout as it happened against the Saints too.

I think it was more likely a mental turn off because there was a collective “we’ve done enough” attitude after 3 quarter time. Very few ran out the game for 4 quarters.

Grundy contributed as did Adams. What let their game down was poor disposal and at times decision making. Grundy looked like an uncoordinated giraffe at times with so many miskicks or look away handballs. Like the rest of the team he will learn from kat night

I do agree that he reduced the chances of us winning that game by not locking it down early in the last. But I also think that as it was only game 3 of the new style, we still need to be bedding it down rather than flicking between styles.

Agreed it's such a radical change to what we have been playing that the group needs to get it into their heads before working up variations on it.

I love the way we are playing………the atmosphere at the end of the third was amazing but dropping a player back to alter the momentum would not have changed our game style imo.

Witts left at the end of 2016. 2016 was Grundy’s 4 year I think.

There was lots of discussion at that time about Witts v Grundy and which way we should go. I’d hazard a guess that a fairly healthy proportion of those lambasting Grundy at the moment were those strongly in the Grundy camp at that time.

I don't think it would have been enough. Would have needed to also stop trying to take off and move it in a wave. But that's what they've been working on all preseason and it's working. I used to hate it when we went into containment when we had a lead under Bucks.

It certainly doesn't matter what a bunch of armchair enthusiasts like us think but many of us forget just how good he was in his early years.

He isn't a shadow player that he was when he first took the footy world by storm Molly and both he and the club are the poorer for it.

Whatever the reason for the change it saddens me because I loved how he used to play.

It was disappointing to lose given we were so well placed to win it 30 up starting the last quarter but it’s a game where there will be a lot taken away and learnt from by the youth which is great. Really being 4 goals 11 at halftime is where it went wrong.

Geelong are dads army very strong bodied team with a lot of preseasons in the legs to help run out games whilst our youth tired and seniors started cramping up.

I would of hated to see them park the bus in the last as it goes against Flys coaching philosophy and the way we are looking to play moving fwd.

If anything our zone fell apart Moore had a mare not just in vs opponents but every mark he went for he either spilt or interfered with a team mate and caused Geelong to get the spill.

Loving the direction and way we are playing, the improved physicality, attack on man and ball, the ball movement and flair is back it’s great.

I’m enjoying the win but have my concerns that the senior players could lift us above our station this year, but imo it would be temporary and this year is a kpf draft low. Next year likely inferior. Timing of when you drop is as important as picking the right player as not every draft is equal.
I do not think trying to remain finals relevant whilst trying to genuinely rebuild allows for a complete rebuild rather a patch job.

I thought he had 1 of his better games yesterday, especially given the size and quality of the Cats. Hasn’t stopped people hanging shit on him. Guess there’s a use it or lose it system.

I think Moore will bounce back cats know he likes to zone off and Cameron is a very smart fwd they made more pay every time looking for his opponent kicking to space on moored furthest side.

likely some adjustments need to be made to our zone to accomodate our new style.

Not sure on roughy, dean also looked quite good preseason.

Agree, he was better than Howe and Moore, especially the latter. Howe started well but faded and Madgen tried very hard all night.
