No way should we risk Ivan on short break and a first up start at Subiaco wih the travel - cannot imagine that would be great for someone coming off a back problem. Also spending all night getting belted by naitanui and running around a large hard track would not offer us anything

These are the games where hammer is best used , like he was vs Jacobs last week - up against a dominant ruck who Ivan has no hope of competing with.
Nic Nat might try and take out one of Ivan's lungs too...

I just keep replaying the last 10 minutes of the 2nd 1/4 and wondering how we'll line up on Friday and how we will train during the week on what Dimma got out of the weekend. There are things to work with. Just got to solidify roles and drill, drill, drill.

Turning an ocean liner takes time but I've seen it before when we did it mid season against all odds. I'll back Dimma, only 3 games in, to get this side operational and firing again.

I know we've all talked about injuries but it wasn't until I listened to Dimma on 3AW that I fully realised that areas of our pre-season got wasted when the likes of Conca went down. We're now having to play guys in areas they may not have trained in all that time because we are shuffling the chairs on deck.

Then they should sack burge. Someone has to be accountable for this shitness

I know the temptation of wanting to point the finger but honestly Conca looked the best I've seen him for a while. You can't predict some things when it comes to our bodies.

You can with Conca. Hamstring after hamstring. Hopefully he gets on top of it like grimes but even he has twinge every now and then

Yes, I hope he gets on top of it too like Grimes did and has a chance to put in a season like Grimes did last year. That's how it rolls though. One guy comes right with only twinges and another just goes down despite no issues preseason and training well - hindsight is 20/20.

Really think we have brought in too many new players all at once this year. I like C.Ellis, Menadue, Hampson, Townsend, Short, Astbury and Rioli individually but 7 new faces all at once is too much for team dynamics, game plan and structure. Half of that amount would have been ambitious but six is diabolical.

I understand that Hardwick had his hand forced with injuries to a point but ultimately that would have meant that Hampson and either Lennon, Short or Rioli would have been required and now Chaplin. That makes three forced changes. Menadue deserves his spot but C.Ellis and Rioli are there based on potential alone and to gift them experience. We can't afford that. They should prove themselves at VFL level first imho.

For mine my changes this week would be -

In: Broad, McBean,

Out: Short, C.Ellis

Broad's inclusion would allow Menadue back up on to the wing and midfield replacing C.Ellis. McBean would replace Short (though really Rioli should miss out imo) with McBean's height, leading and ability to crumb to be a huge asset on Subi.

Broad would turn it over more than Arseberry lol

Im sure they only took broad in the event that Rance, Astbury, Chaplin, Batch, Grimes and/or Vlaustin were all missing on the same day. It'll never happen but just an insurance policy to have someone on the books that you pay peanuts for in the event it does
