Cats are better than their position suggests, and the hawks are a question on if it's their oppo that's been bad, or they've been good, or both

Richmond and Port Adelaide meet for the first time. Ellie McKenzie's suspension overturned today is probably indicative of how the Power's season is going so far.

Brisbane and Adelaide meet for the 12th time (Lions hold an 8-3 lead). Crows have gone 0-4 since their last flag. For some reason this match is fit for Channel 7 in Victoria and South Australia, but it couldn't possibly be worthy of the main channel in Queensland... where interest in the sport this week won't be sky high or anythin'.

There will in fact be 5 matches on free-to-air in each market this round, including Friday night which will be shown everywhere. Suddenly the Dogs v Swans looks like it might draw a few more through the gates than feared a little while ago, on the back of a much-needed win for the home team and plenty of Sydney fans in town.

Pies-Suns, Bombers-Dees, Saints-Dockers also taking place in Melbourne on the public holiday. All games involving teams directly next to each other on the ladder. Weather looks like it'll be fine. What more could you ask for as somebody with a day off in the greatest town in the world.

Turnout for the eve of the public holiday will also be interesting, following the Cats' huge bounce back last weekend and the Hawks flying (just about literally, with this being their 4th away match in a row). Forecast says pretty damn cold and it'll start an hour later than last year's match vs Melbourne (which drew in excess of 4k).

Doesn't say it on paper right now, but North Melbourne vs Richmond could snatch the "1st v 2nd clash" marquee by the time they take the field, pending results of their mid-week matches.

It generally pains me watching G Train play because while she does some things well she doesn't use her body properly ie doesn't initiate body contact. However, she has been pretty good this year in most facets, has been taking some nice contested marks of late and to my shock she shoved her inferior opponent out of the way Rowbottom style in a ruck contest. Good signs. Might be learning from Luke who while a plodder certainly knows how to throw her body around.

Seen worse 1-4 teams than Port Adelaide. They've shown something in every loss without managing a "4-quarter performance".

Playing Hawthorn in R10 as it just so happens (at PRO), which at this point I would guess will decide 4th and 5th spot, and therefore also likely dictate one of the semi final matchups.

Some tough venue-related questions are going to have to be revisited if indeed it is the Tigers finishing 4th and playing a week 2 home final vs another Vic team.

Those couple of touches at half back by Riddell with ~1min to go were outrageously good.

Not that you couldn't get similar by a Skepper or whoever up the other end, but it's not coming close to translating into easy goals because the forward structure is all at sea.

Surprised one of Celine Moody or Jess Good weren't a late out, bearing in mind Shierlaw being managed. Doubt I'm the only one.

Abbie McKay injury will have some interesting repercussions. Even if it's just short term, could be pivotal for where the Blues finish but also puts the pressure on Port as a game they should be winning.

A win, probably even a small one, by the Cats tonight with the return of Prespakis will restore a lot of confidence in their future prospects. But for now, can't tip them to win just off the back of smashing the Suns.

Essendon are oscillating between poor and just ok, so I don't have strong expectations for them even against a Melbourne team with an ever-expanding injury list: Zanker and Mackin the latest additions. Maybe they'll get Paxman back. But some Demons just need to get their hands on the footy more. Hanks laid some tackles and kicked a goal last week (albeit with less conviction than in years past) but hasn't had 20+ disposals this season, nor has Lily Mithen. Bannan hasn't had 10+, also only just kicked her 1st goal for the season.

St Kilda have continued to be dramatically less impressive by the week. And even without Aine Tighe, you'd have to tip Freo to travel across and beat them... if Gabby O'Sullivan's suspension was overturned, with the way she picked up the slack in the comeback vs Melbourne.

GWS should win again this week, like they should've won last week. Huge opportunity for the Eagles to go 4-2, keeping in mind they are at home vs Port Adelaide next week.

I agree with everybody: following on from the highs or lows of Saturday, the Lions will come out on Sunday and be very flat, or very energised, or start out flat but fire up in the 2nd half. So they'll either win, lose or draw.

I'll change my Port tip to Carlton if McKay plays, but I'm not expecting she will.

Really hope she makes it back to her best.
It’d be shi.ty if both her and her sister where lost to the game because of unlucky bad accidents playing.
Her sister could’ve been a high first rnder but did her ACL/MCL/PCL and fractured her femur in the one event.
Was still invited to the combine she was rated that highly.
Not sure where she’s at with her footy.
