I wanna talk about Pou. The kid turned 18 just a few months ago. To see him crashing packs the way he is in the forward line I think is pretty mindblowing. With big key defenders and forwards around and who knows who coming in from the side, it's a lot harder to get near some of those balls than it looks. Didn't know he had the big fly as part of his game. He'll take multiple moty contenders this year, it's just a matter of time.

And if it isn't a high ball coming in, the way he is able to trap, possess and offload some of those chaos balls bouncing in, in the blink of an eye, shows a natural game sense and spatial awareness of his pressured surroundings that is way beyond his years and level of experience. Such great hands and decision making in tight. Always hits those targets after making the right split second decision. Doesn't try to do too much which one might expect from a first year player not getting as much ball as he would like. Very composed.

With the new regime and the team doing well, let's hope players wanting to return home is a thing of the past and Pou will be a one club player. A multiple premiership one club player. Love ya Pou 💩

He's the sort of kid that, mentally, just HAS to be #1 at the club.

I rekon he's come in, seen what Mitchito Owens is doing as a 2nd year player, and thought; **** YEAH!

Can see those two really pushing each other to get better and better over the next 10+ years.

Here's a stat: Our points against per game of 59.5 is the lowest for a 22 game or more season in VFL/AFL history.

We hold the record for the least points against over a 22 game season ever, in 2009 with 1411 at an average of 64.13 per game.

We are defending at historic levels so far this season.

Mason Woods career was ruined at North because they were obsessed with finding the next Carey, kept comparing him to Carey and making him play forward.

They had the next Keith Grieg under their noses and brad Scott was too dopey to see it!

(For younger readers: Grieg was 1970s kangaroos hard running, marking, skilful 2 time Brownlow winning, AFL team of the century wingman 😂)

Can we ban ever mentioning that season again?

Correction- a flag is the future.

I want phillipou to be fresh and firing come September.

He's been fantastic, but we need to address the reality that he is 18 and it's a bloody long season.

I think him sitting out for a week (no vfl) every 5 or so weeks would be a very smart thing for us to do
Finally, finally, you got rid of that dross Ameet Bains/Jesus Christ avatar.
Sunlight has burst through the clouds and it’s a brand new world! 🌻🌻🌻

In an era where the 'in vogue' style is a relentless, all out attack on the goals.

Lyon is an absolute genius.

Clarko will be regarded as the modern GOAT because of that 3-peat but damn, Ross is just as good tactically as Clarkson ever was at his peak.

Coffield, Jones, King, Billings, Hayes, Webster, McKenzie, Sharman still waiting in the wings. Not sure many will get a game bar King based on our current form.

Keeler and Van Es progressing nicely too.

Extend him for 5 years.
Fantastic - suspect they have set out pre season what he needed to do to be contracted - he did it & now they are showing confidence in him & he is responding - great story!

Events, dear boy, events. I think Lyon would still prefer Webster to Paton too. I'm confident of the blokes who didn't play today, we at some stage this season will see Coffield, Jones, King, Billings, Bytel, Webster, Hayes and Caminiti in the 1sts at some stage.

was that Carlton's heat map?
what does that mean?
The red indicates the area carlton occupied the most in the field.

We forced them wide and into repetitive possessions across half back.

The lack of both possessions and territory (yellow or red) in their forward half explains how dominant we were defensively in stifling their ball movement.
