Essendon (9th, 2-3) v Sydney (11th, 2-3)
7.15pm AEST, Ikon Park
My bad if I steered anybody in the wrong direction, lol. Guess I was foolish to think Essendon wouldn't have a home game at a ground where their opponents just played (and to not double-check my work).

On deathbed tonight. If tragedy strikes, send all my belongings to M. Prespakis of Sunbury VIC, or whatever--she will figure out where everything goes and distribute it all with style and grace.

Ellyse Toogamble. Gamblegood. Something like that.

Wouldn't read too much into the midweek games, except to note the most experienced teams in Brisbane and North Melbourne have handled it the best, which should be no shock to anybody.

This old chestnut:

If it's not delusional, then there must be Gary Ablett and Steve Johnson types who need to hear to some hard truths?

Chloe Scheer - idk how you miss six weeks (and counting) with a damn toe, but not a great look when your fitness has never been up to scratch.
Georgie Prespakis - tryyy kicking a drop punt, and over the off-season actually work on that horrendous left foot.

As weird as it is, turf toe is a thing..Aaron Sandilands, Jack Graham half a season
Tessa Lavey all of last season.
You can’t push off and very hard to rest it.
Strange injury

She managed to push off and make it worse for ten weeks of pre-season, gotta be smarter than that.

Not that I'm saying she's Scheerquille O'Neal ("I got hurt on company time, so I'll heal on company time") but in the same boat as Ebony Antonio, Celine Moody and Tayla Harris, all of whom cooked themselves by not being vigilaaaant.

Meant to mention earlier, tonight will be the AFLW Pink Lady Match:

Pink Lady could be a round theme given it is the womens comp but have the Melbourne game as the main one. Could raise more for breast cancer with all clubs more involved

With that said, I guess I'm not in a charitable mood--behold the array of 50-point margins. Low expectations, and all that.

McNamara not playing feels like Melbourne have gone into tank mode. But then Shelley Heath is named, so who nose.

Frem-Haw (the battle of Teams Who Avoid Both 2023 Grand Finalists) is the tough one for me. With the way Fremantle start their games (a combined total of 1.3.9 from all six first quarters), I would ordinarily just say Hawthorn will blow them away early, before the Dockers peg it back in too-little-too-late fashion. But with the Hawks backing up off a 4-day break and a long flight, high potential to start flat as a tack.

Essendon likewise only the 12-point win due to short turnarounds. Geelong have played better than a 1-1-5 record which is what they face with a loss at Henson Park (which btw will be the Swans' Pride Game), whereas 2-5 is probably right for Sydney.
