the game style that we play, the high press possession style game is now being exploited by a deep positiioning counter attack game. thats why you see teams like Melbourne, WB and Freo winning games they shouldnt be. We press high up, try to control the footy, and then we get to the forwrad line, and by then its packed so we have no one to hit up, so we need to bomb the ball in.
yesterday i saw on at least 5-6 occasions that there were 5 Richmond players in a line throught the middle of the ground handbaling to each other, and then would turn it over. then the cheats Nahas and Thomas, who were not chasing, got quick kicks over the back.

We simply have a poor game plan, and it needs to be changed. We would be better at playing a counter attack game, because we have long kicking midfielders and half back flankers, good tall marking forwards and decent small forwards. We also have some really good intercepting defenders.
what we dont have is possession based players or smart pressing players. dimma needs to to play a style that suits our team. if he is not willing to do that, then questions need to be asked.

It hurts to see teams like Bulldogs, saints and giants with exciting youngsters. I can't remember the last time I got excited by a new tiger. Seems everyone is just a bit role player.

If lids isn't up to snuff I'd rather see him as a permanent leading forward rather then 3 quarters across the back line
You should watch the VFL. Jayden Short, Jason Castagna and Connor Menadue are very exciting players picked up by Richmond last year. They don't give up and keep going until the end (from what I have seen so far). Of course, they could improve their skills such as hitting targets etc. but it is still exciting. The AFL side can really learn a thing or two from our VFL side.

Our gamestyle is shit. Same as it has been since northey left. Always under pressure.. cant hit a 20 mt target walk round like we are awesome. Reality check needed. Name or no name. Perform or piss off. We headhunted all these so called senior players to add depth. They clog our list. Hampson... finished. Thomas.. finished .. pettard... finished.. knights... finished .. hunt.. not up to it in an average team. Grigg chaplin and even houli are plodders. Houli u may say is harsh. He is apparently a great kick. I see a slow high kick 80 percent of the time. His stats look great but his influence on games is bugger all unless we are smashing our opponent. Even poor old ivan is struggling. Not to mention the tried n tested players we have already cut. Another rebuild. Another 5 to 7 years. Another lot of crap excuses. Another decade of my life just hoping. Cant wait for the next brains trust. Just hope they have some balls to not give us all this bs spin. Over it bigtime
Houli is a poor footballer and plays scared
Twice yesterday went into a marking contest one handed and at least three of his half arsed tackles didn't stick
Watch his kicking struggles to hit a barn under no pressure , but people get dizzy over this spud

Out: The bottom 5 players on our list that will not take us to a premiership

I really want to see the kids being played. They may be horrible at the beginning, but I would much rather seeing a loss with developing kids in our team. Give them consistent opportunities. Hopefully we finish low on the ladder this year and have high picks. Invest heavily in the draft again next year and have at least 1 good free agent. Play those kids we drafted at the end of this year throughout 2016 in the place of those on the list that will not take us to a premiership. At the end of 2016, get another good free agent. By the time we reach 2017, we would have a very competitive list I would say if we nail the draft picks.

Then, with the current stars in our side and those youngsters, I would think we would become a solid side who can charge up the ladder like Port did. The draft is no longer compromised, so it was a wise move for the club to invest heavily in the draft last year, because they probably knew this team wouldn't take them anywhere

Yeah Hardwick is clear as mud, I don't really blame them:

"The inconsistency of performance of some of our players is not good enough. We've got to find players that are prepared to put their hand up and play the Richmond way[...]"

What exactly IS the Richmond way, Dimma?? Is it how we played in 2013? If so, what have you been doing since?
Dimma doesn't understand one thing. We DON'T want players to play the Richmond way. Unless he is willing to re-define what the "Richmond way" is, I think he should give that a rest

Yeah awesome. Leta play 3 talls. Its not getten run out of there easy enough now. We r putrid. I hate out players laughing at opposition when they kick a goal. Its not funny. You look stupid. I ask a question. Would rance play this week for roos or malthouse or eade if he did what he did when he cost us a goal and imitated whoever the player was. If softwick had any balls he would make a statement and drop him. Rance has had 3 poor weeks. Ultamatum time. Sign or piss off. U wanna be a smartarse then cya later showpony

So your solution is to drop the only player who has shown any shred of performance on a semi consistant basis so far this year. Rance stinks it up this weekend (I think you are being harsh on 3 weeks) and the answer is drop him to send a message.

How bout you drop the other half of the team first who have been putrid before you drop our most reliable player so far. That might send a strionger message.

Ultimatums in life rarely work

This is what we did in the first 2 years of Dimma. You are right remember how bad we were and the spankings we were getting. Commentators were saying this could be the worse side ever. Then Dimma decided we were good enough to challenge so brought in mature players. I am not saying that kids is not the answer (maybe it is) but it would say something about the club and ANOTHER wasted 5 years only to go back to what we were doing in 2010

I honestly think our list isn't good enough to be competive, so I am saying a mini-rebuild to get rid of those we won't move forward with (and we have a lot of them). It is better to react now than wait until we have to go into a full rebuild because our start are too old.

Unfortunately for Dimma though, he took over at a time when the draft were compromised, so the kids we got during that time were not as good as the kids we could have received had the drafts not been compromised (we should have had high draft picks at that time). Yes, you could say the 5 year plan was a bit of a failure in that case, but it is better to find out sooner than later. And it was with reasons we were not in control of (compromised drafts). The idea itself though was a success this time because we would have been much more competitive had we not been compromised by GWS and Gold Coast. We would not have employed so many fringe players

If we bottom out this year and invest heavily in the draft like last year, we would have two sets of uncompromised drafts with good kids coming through. Getting games into those kids would reap us rewards in the long run I think, and we could be competitive sooner than what we think if we also score a couple of good free agents along the way

Dusty..stop the transitional miracle kick across ground that gets intercepted and gives the opposition a clear run to goal. Your doing it each week and it costs us more often than not. Stop watching the highlight packages your mum puts together and start doing some hard work.

Houli feeds off others hard work. Can't win a hard ball for himself, just sits waiting for Rance etc to get it out to him so he can release. That's fine because that type of player is needed...,but when he's not in space he's pissweak.

Sorry for the intrusion.

I went to the game today and just wanted to give my 2 cents.

I couldn't believe the handball game the tigers played, it was a game plan that just didn't make any sense.

Why would a team come to Tassie when we were expecting rain (lucky we didn't get any) and plan to handball in the way they did.

I was dumbfounded (as were many around me) of the lack of penetration into your forward 50.

Is Dimma in trouble?

Again, sorry for the intrusion, but just wanted to get your thoughts about the Tigers game plan as it just doesn't seem to work and was extremely frustrating to watch even as a neutral.
thanks SKH

Just put him in the forward line and we won`t have to worry about these kicks.

The opposition must be laughing when they realise that they don`t have to worry about who to play on Martin deep in the forward line.

We need to change from a forward line policy of trying to keep the ball in there to one that is focused on kicking bloody goals!!!

Martin and Edwards to the forward line FFS!!!

Give Jack a hand by putting some quality down there with him.

We`re dumbfounded about the game plan too.

I don`t know if he`s changed a winning game plan again over pre-season, but it looks that way.

I`m a Dimma supporter but he will be in trouble unless he quickly comes up with a decent game plan.

Our forward 50 is dysfunctional, when a team dominate possessions, inside 50`s, clearances, stoppages and contested possessions yet still gets flogged there is something seriously wrong.

We have gone from chip kicks (Hawthorn) to excessive use of the handball (Geelong under Thompson). We do not play a style of football that suits our players and it shows when our players look lost out there.

There are a couple of things that need to be addressed immediately. First of all play the same number of bloody forwards as the other team have defenders. Don't allow our forwards to be double teamed.

Then kick the bloody thing long whenever you get a chance. If your first thought it to kick it, kick it. If there are the same number of forwards as defenders we have a 50% at worst of getting the ball. If we kick well we can get up to 100%.

That is all

Sheds is our most important clearance player. We can't afford to play him solely forward.

If there is a race between Astbury and a glacier I'm not sure who starts favorite.

Gordon is a darn fumbly

Oh, and always looking to handball sideways and behind in traffic is silly. Handball yes, but out of the congested zone and if the first option is forward (and sideways) don't need to 2nd guess as much by needing to turn to look back. Frustrating..... Grrrrrer....

We won the clearances against the Dogs, Dees and Kangas, and got beat by a combined margin of 86 points.

We lost the clearances against Carlton by 11 and won the game in a canter.

We have to stop being obsessed about winning KPI`s and start focusing on the stat that matters, goals.

Winning clearances is one thing. Transitioning poorly in to the forward line is where we breakdown.

Gordon is a joke. Just a joke who will never be a first grade player.

Sigh We need some home truths told.

just watched the 3rd quarter replay. a couple of things to note. we got absolutely belted out of the centre in that quarter. because griff went down early, maric was basically doing the ruck work solo. about 10-15 min to the 3rd quarter, you can tell he's spent. goldstein begins to dominate. the other thing about this sideways movement. a few times the camera was able to track the ball from defence and give a shot of the options up the ground. there were none. the half forward line was either stangant or not moving. they try to generate run and open up play from half back with this sideways movement but this broke down due to skill errors. losing griff really hurt our forward structure. there was simply no target at chf. astbury is not the answer.
