It’s not the sitting on a plane bit that is the issue with travel. It’s more about the interruption on the recovery and preparation process. Compounded by the added imposition of a 5 day break.

You should believe industry professionals when they say that being 5-10% of your best has an enormous bearing on how games play out.

You should also believe industry professionals that say travel and short breaks affects athletes ability to operate at peak levels.

A couple of NWM turnovers were from underpowered kicks that didn’t quite clear the opposition. Am I prepared to apportion some of that blame to a short turnaround and a flight?

Yes. I think I am.
Also you could see , the dogs were walking around our guys. Our guys could hardly move , lay a tackle or chase. No doubt in my mind their legs were stuffed.

Jesus, let it go! No-one is saying that we categorically lost because we had to fly!! But it is a factor - when you stack up a whole lot of little things it adds up to less-than-ideal preparation. Lots of short turnarounds, high injuries/young team, lots of travel back-to-back, opponents with long turnarounds between games etc.....all the little things add up, and if they equal 2%, at the elite level that costs you a game.....

People are treating a one hour flight like it’s a one hour flight.

It’s the preparation at home, the travel to the airport, the waiting to board, the waiting to take off, the one hour in the air, the waiting to disembark, the collection of baggage, the travel to the hotel, the…. And then all of that reversed after a day or two.

It’s away from your familiar routine, away from your home, away from your bed, away from your partner and family, away from your pet…

Anyway, no one on either side is going to convince anyone else one way or another in this travel debate.

Time to fly again.

You should see what most of the players do on a big night out then.

You’re talking to someone may have turned up to a few games drunk and played a blinder up until halftime until the body hit the alcohol depletion wall.

Fun times.

RTB is becoming a bloody politician speaking in riddles. He quotes all the fluffy coaching terms and stats but says nothing really.

Why doesn't he address that we have started both years with a huge injury list?

Why would a coach be trying to tweak a game plan when we have 1/3 of the team out?

Address how he is going to match Port's midfield?

The question re Benell and drug use was ordinary jounalism.

I used to enjoy his media releases but more recently he has become self serving politician.

He said the injuries are tendon injuries when discussing the long term ones and address that Butler was a cause and effect injury from pre seasons surgery and loading him up.

What more can he say?

He takes full blame for last weeks gameplan and spoke about reviewing and showing the boys what our best football has looked like.

He clearly identifies how young our sides are week on week this year. He has literally walked through the fans what our issues are on any given week.

Not sure what else you want him to say.

Talked about how we sagged off them too much and sat back deeper. Talked about their uncontested marks and took ownership as a coach and coaching group. A politician would never give that much mea culpa.

Perhaps it's just the lack of a video showing a dominatrix lashing of the coaches and the 23 that is disappointing to some 🤔

Oh everyone just dreams of burning things to the ground and the coach paraded around on a spike.

It’s such a weird fascination to help people deal with any loss let alone a poor one.

I listen to his pressers every week since he returned. Haven’t had one where I finished and thought… yeah that was fluffy and I got nothing from it.

The true believers simply keep the faith and doeth cast pity upon those who question thy lord.

Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.

Matthew 7:13

JB was moved to the wing after he got the yipps.
He never recovered.
It was such a negative move by a negative coach. Instead of focusing on the enormous number of shots Jack had at goal he only saw that he missed.
You felt like if he'd stayed in the forward line and hit a few goals in a row he'd grow in belief. Belief and some ability could've been a great combination.

Does anyone have a POV regarding Mitchito transitioning to becoming a Centre-half Back?

Reasons for No
-he’s never been a defender
-he’s a burst player, bursts of magic
Reasons for yes
-he can leap
-he is strong
-he has lateral power(duh- he can twist move sideways hard and fast)
-he can read the play well

We lack a CHB
Battle is the ideal third defender not second

He's not a sufficiently accurate field kick
He does not possess key position size
He's better in a non-marking contested situation
Josh Battle is more than adequate as a CHB

I wrote a set of lyrics for an as yet unrecorded song called "Scapegoat", about people like you who seem to need a guillotine in the town square to help ease their disappointment after a loss by their football team......

Imagine if we had a lynching before our next home game. We’d fill the place!

Well I think he is at least as big as Battle, and testimony to his ‘hulking power’ if you like, is the ross the Pot putting him for part-time ruck duties!! But…you could easily counter that by saying, ‘yep, Ross puts him in the ruck because he’d be too much of a liability to sub for Battle as a back and have Josh in the ruck part-time, which if I recall, happened to Josh under the early Richo-Ratts regime.
