I think they should play Monty. His form has been good and gives us an interceptor to cover Ridley having to play a more defensive role on Cameron.

it wont matter who plays on Cameron and Hawkins if it comes in like it did in round 1 last year.

we need to win the contest in the middle to have any chance. i think we are a chance of that. like the Pies though, the Cats are not out of any game, so 3 good quarters will not be enough
^^in Spades.

I hope they make the decision to bring in another defender rather than move langford back again. We need him up forward he’s our most consistent threat in the forward half. Give monte a chance for a couple of weeks to see what he’s got, as he is a mature body. Hopefully Reid is putting his name up for selection after 4 or so vfl games.

Have no idea, just saw on the replay he went down to the rooms for a few minutes during the 3rd
Ah okay! I missed that one. I did see Perkins get crunched in their forward 50 during the second quarter. Thought he might've needed to get subbed out at half time for Hobbs, but was pleasantly surprised when I saw him on the ground to start the third. He should be okay.

Okay so, I took a stab at predicting what the ladder could look like by the end of Round 15:

It's my first attempt, so I'll probably do others as rounds go by. To me, I don't think you can get a true read on a team until they're all through the byes. Once they've all played fourteen games, you can really start to predict how they'll finish up. Teams can either defy predictions or succumb to them after that, but it's still better than saying so and so team is good after like six games or whatever.

Anyway, relevant to us, here's how I've got it shaking out:

Margin on the losses might blow out (the Geelong one especially), we might lose some of the games I think we'll win (Port, Richmond, Carlton), and some of the wins might end up a lot closer. But overall, I think it's pretty good for a glass half full first attempt at trying to see where we'll be come the end of the byes. If we ended up 10-4, my lid would probably be off. But I'd settle for 7-7, provided the loses weren't blowouts.

Anyway, fingers crossed we can snag two wins out of this four game block. Losing all four would be super rough. Though even if we only get one win out of it and we keep the three loses to within twenty points, I reckon it's a pass. Especially if the one win is against Richmond.
Ill take those results

The amount of ‘new essendon’ ‘this feels different, not another false dawn’ articles journos have been writing in the past week or so. How many will then turn around and write oh essendon underperforming again articles if we lose a few in a row with the tough run coming up.

It would depend on how we lose them. Like if we get smashed, the knives will come out.

But if they're within a goal-twenty point range, I could see them standing pat. Like I think they'd almost applaud us if we had a close loss to Geelong, given the five day turnaround and no Laverde.

You’d put your money on us getting put to sword against one of them, maybe this week against geelong- lions at the gabba will also be a really tough task. Can think of many honorable loses on Anzac Day,that have followed up with a smacking. Can already see the media landscape next Monday if it happens, ‘did we go to early on essendon’

We'll see!

I'm seeing Dungeons and Dragons on Sunday instead of watching the game, and I almost wouldn't be surprised if I came home from that to see that we've somehow won. More likely to lose obviously, but still.

We will be extremely competitive till just after half time and lose by 80 points.
cough it up in the first quarter, chase it down by 3qt and then pass out from exertion

or without a decent Laverde replacement, cough it up and then go home at quarter time, leaving Geelong to their training run

Solid chance Weideman goes back too

Interesting thought about weed. Goes to Hawkins if he goes back?
