Very interesting for me was the immediate post game onfield interview from Cotch. Maxwell asked him about his own game trying to pump his tyers (interesting questions coming from a former cap't????) . Cotch responded by not taking the bait at all and credited the win to the whole teams performance which it rightly was. Doesn't matter as much if individuals perform. The result & joy comes from solid TEAM performance. The challenge for all our leaders is to continually drive this message regardless of where the "footy world" wants to focus. Dimma is absolutely right, the TEAM can, if it's playing well. Challenge any other club. But that is true of any team. The team playing best will win on the day, is the reality of the competition...."Consistency of performance" ???

I remember everyone bitching about Jack moving up the ground away from Full forward.
He's a much better footballer for it.
He's a better player than than when he was winning Coleman medals.
I sometimes wonder if people realize just how good he is.
He's easily our most skilled player.
In fact I reckon he's one of the best pure footballers in the game.
Magnificently skilled on both sides, smart and just getting better.

That finish on his left, you could just tell it was going to sail through the second he turned onto his wrong side. Supremely skilled player.

That answers it. Anyone that has a wife that asks why you are doing some thing knows that you press ahead with it no matter what. There is noting worse that tellin the Mrs you might have got it wrong.....Full support dimma. Get it now
Can you imagine what it will be like at the Dimma household for the rest of the season.
She'll second guess his every selection and back it up with 'why would you listen to me. You didn't listen about Rance in the mids, but what do I know...blahblahwifeyblah'

I said it before but need to say it again... Houli deserves massive praise for going 100% hard at contests.

This has been the only part of his game I have been critical of. He has been shy a couple of times in the past but he did not pull out of one at all today at any stage - showed tremendous guts and courage at times when a few players would back off.

Champion effort and a huge thumbs up. Keep it up and he will be one of the best half back flankers in the league.
He panicked early once or twice but late in the game when he ran back in to a pack with his eyes on the ball...no thought of self-preservation...he went up in my estimations. It was courageous and stopped a real chance for them to goal.

People on here are always bemoaning a lack of plan B, C or D. It was an interesting one though. Remember we picked up Chaplin because Rance got destroyed by Petrie and Cloke in previous outings. Now this made little sense after we got Chaplin as he rarely plays on the monsters, he's just a bigger Bowden! Is it possible DH is planning for life without Rance? Hopefully this wasn't a sign.... Regardless Elton needs to play against the best to improve. He will have learned plenty from today. He ultimately needs to replace Chaplin in the future (hopefully not Rance) so we may as well get some development at the top level into him. Especially with Astbury out of form...

What did you think of the kids? Personally I thought they had stinkers except for C.Ellis. The thing I liked about him is that even though the game is slightly to quick for him at the moment, he is still knowing what to do and doing it quickly albeit not cleanly. That play in the last quarter when he had Grigg 35 metres in space and all he had to do was gather the ball and get it towards Grigg was really good. He was under pressure, he one grabbed the ball (I think, I was 120 metres away!) and just scrubbed the kick round the corner. It got to Grigg and he got it to Lids with a pinpoint un-Grigg like pass and we score... Ellis just knows what to do, he's just feeling rushed to do it.

McBean was ok, got terrible delivery most of the time but made a few good contests. Should still make way for Griff if he gets up for next week.

Menadue looked ok in his limited minutes. Just needs a more mature body and to get used to the pace of the game.

Elton I've already mentioned.... a bit deer in headlights but kept plugging away.... will learn a lot from that...
Good summary. The exact thought went through my mind in regards to the Rance move.Maybe like the article by whatshisname has some truth to it and Rance has already told the club of his intentions.A clear pointer would be more game time for Elton who did look lost on an occasion or 2.Of the other cubs i agree,Just need to be patient with the kids.

Totally agree RodneyDangerfield re your comment about Jack. He's not just very skillfull but many(outside the RFC) don't realise just how much of a smart footballer he is too. I don't mind if others underrate him, particularly opposition teams. Just means he'll continue to reek havoc for the RFC...

i think he tried to take the leaf out of Geelongs book the week before by using a bigger body on Pendlebury.Obviously it backfired, but gets some points for something different.

I'll give him 5 points out of a possible 10.

Loses 5 for the 50/ 50 gamble and gains 5 due to that being the winning margin.

Having watched the replay, i dont think enough has been said about Corey Ellis. He didnt win a ton of the ball, but my god he is composed.

The one that really stood out was on the wing when he got a loopy handpass and a collingwood player came off Ellis further up the ground and was closing him down as the ball was approaching, he sensed the player approaching and turned and put it on his boot quickly so it went along the ground straight to i cant remember, but he was completely by himself. That stood out to me like dogs balls, absolutely showed me he is AFL quality.

Also had a nice handpass along the ground, he seems to have so much time when he touches it, the comparisons to Mitchell and Pendles were apt imo.

Thats 5pts more than what some on here would give him.:D
I must say what an underrated footballer Dane Swan is/has been.
Doesn't get the accolades like a Buckley/Voss/ablett,but he's right up there in my book.Respect the man.:thumbsu:

Has anyone mentioned how quick minded and composed C. Ellis was under pressure a few times today? Slammed the ball on the boot in a tenth of a second under a hospital handpass under his man to a free Grigg when he was about to get poleaxed and set up the 2nd of Lids goals.
Very impressive with the ball in hand he looks very crafty and not rushed into mistakes. Keep him in.

Gold! LOL
Looks like he's training for the Rio Olympics.
Diving is his sport.
Seriously...he should see a specialist because there is something wrong with his balance.
Every time he gets close to the ball he throws himself on the ground.
He's a comedy act but nobody is laughing.

He had one average year last season due to carrying a multitude of injuries into matches that not many people knew about.

Many who thought they were in the know (Fans and media) started to write him off prematurely. He's never been the best trainer and prefers to regain his fitness thru game time.

Underwent surgery on about 3 - 4 issues IIRC over the preseason and is getting back to his best.

He is a pure footballer and game changer for mine, instinctive and knows where to position himself on a footy field. He has been consistently a gun over a long period further enhancing his status in the game. He's just the of type of player that would suit the tigers perfectly short term. However I'm sorry to say he's not for sale.;)

IMO if both he and Pendles didn't play yesterday it would have been the Tigers by ten goals plus.

Anyone else think Martin was huge in the last quarter? Seem to recall him getting a string of centre clearances. Hope Dimma leaves him there...
He was indeed, put his body on the line, as did every Tiger, and Pie for that matter, hugely enjoyable game, live and on replay.

Speaking of Pendles, did he have an injury? I was sure I saw him limping during the game. Certainly right about Swan, could walk into any clubs first 18 for sure. He's gold even more so given his draft position...

I think a bit of love has to go to Miles, he went in so hard and got slammed again and again and kept getting up and having a crack.

I think having the kids come in put a bit of spirit and enthusiasm back into the team.

Would love to have heard what Dimma said and the changes he made at Quarter time because that was a complete turn around.

A true Jekyll and hyde day.
