Seb Ross was 5th for possessions for the Saints. Plenty worse than him
I don't agree, his disposal count means nothing here. In fact it's probably a blight on him considering he was directly responsible for at least 2 goals from poor disposal efficiency. He missed targets, bombed blind kicks 30m in the air, and added no value today. Harsh on him, but it was not good enough from one of our senior players.
Plenty had a stinker, but he was bad.

Why do we not mix it up ever? All other top teams running their young guns through the middle but Owens is stuck in the forward line even though we had caminiti sharman membrey and POU in there.
POU should get some mid time. Clark adds a point of difference in there and Sincs NEEDS to be in there full time.
Windy not even in the team.
Just bizarre we stay with Ross crouch Steele for the majority of the game when they clearly aren’t working.

Thought we mixed it up in the first quarter last week didn't we? Then we stopped immediately when it wasn't working as Norf brought the pressure.

That Saints supporter Tex Perkins sums up that performance.

Really deflating result, I wasn't expecting to win that game against the Crows in Adelaide but I was expecting a much better performance than that.

Normally with Ross Lyon coached sides you would expect to at least be in the game and competitive but we were nowhere near it today, not even close.

Not sure what has happened but that total buy in we had with our workrate and pressure in the earlier rounds just isn't there now, we only had some guys that were giving 100% effort with other guys that looked like they couldn't give a stuff and when that happens the whole system breaks down.

Ross needs to read the riot act to our players and get a response, if we play like we did today we won't beat GWS, a few changes might help too.

It might be OK to make no changes when you are winning but with a loss like that no one's spot should be safe, Membrey for King is an obvious change.

The worse thing was he seemed like he didn't want to tackle and pressure the ball carrier.

lots of nothing players dominate other nothing players at VFL.

Not saying he's a nothing but illustrating a point.

How we get him up to speed though is the question. So far he's only looked solid as a tagger at senior level.
Don’t care about his touches but he’s started kicking open play goals like he was promised to do. That’s something that if he brings to his afl game he’s a star

Absolutely no physicality from the players today.
The workrate was down, as was evident by how often their players were in front/out in space.
Our skills were subpar, I noticed a few weeks back we started to look a bit fumbly and that has carried on in the last few games. Our handballs especially seem to put us under more pressure than was necessary.
We also just didn't come up and pressure the ball carrier today. That has been a cornerstone of our game to get in the oppositions face but today we just let them walk it out of defence.
Owen's is going to be our best player soon.
Steele is looking pedestrian.
Reckon we need to look at having a more high impact player come in as sub. Bytel/Windy either need to be playing full games in the VFL or full games I'm the AFL. Reckon we need someone who will come in as a high energy, high defensive pressure player in that role, not a plodding inside mid.

Point of discussion:

Caminiti

He kicked a few goals which is more than lots can say but Jesus he had some stinkers efforts at the ball decision making ball use.

Rusty I’ll give him the benefit of the doubt but hardly the most convincing key forward option.
Needs to replace Membrey full time moving forward. Will be great for us.

I would hazard a guess and say the hand injury has set him back like it did to Steele and Membrey.

We need to move past Howard, Ross, Membrey and Paton. They are liabilities and are holding the team back.

King, Webster, Billings, Windhager in for Membrey, Ross, Paton and Steele.

Steele hasn't looked the same since his injury, might need some more time.
Ice on his thigh? quad?
May get some extra time. Windy straight in for a whole game.
King for Membrey.
Billings because why not?

I'm not going to pot the kids when the seniors don't turn up.

The difference in field kicking between us and the Crows was obvious. During commentary it was said Adelaide had a plan to bring skillful players to the club. Speed and skill.

Once again, if we play a team that uses the ball well... we get carved up... unless we bring an insane amount of pressure.

Ross, Steele, Crouch is not a premiership midfield.

Steele has never been a good kick. Neither him or Crouch consistently deliver the ball well inside 50.

I don't give a f*ck about stats.

Owens goes in the ruck and looks like a bull. How about we put him in at the centre bounces with Marshall rucking and see what he can do. I'm getting pretty frustrated that it's not happening.

Are we going to waste another year because we have a sniff of finals or are we actually going to have the balls to build for a premiership?

Again... Ross, Steele, Crouch is not a premiership midfield.

Get games into Windy. Put Owens in the midfield ffs

I'm a bit concerned about our forward line structure. Hope Harvs is the right man for the job.

Need Webster back.

Dougal... shakes head

Don’t want to pot him. Just needed to have that information here in the history books so people can’t only point to his 2.2 goal haul afterwards.

Good comeback but not a flawless game by any means.
