All jokes aside I think we all realise by now he's never actually getting the sack. He will either call it himself or be forced to finish due to health issues.

I'm curious what you mean by this sentence. It's difficult to decipher. Are you saying Ken and the Port admin are overly defensive when their performance is scrutinised by fans & media; and they are too quick to brush off any fair criticism as agenda-driven "hate" ? Is that the gist of what you are saying here?

If so, can you blame them? Port has been a Top 4 team in three of the past four seasons and the coach has been criticised like they'd finished in the bottom four every year. The constant calls for Ken's sacking by Port fans has become a meme. Is it any wonder they've learned to block out any criticism?

However disappointed all of you are about losing in September, you can't deny the club has been been managed bloody well over the past few years. By any objective measure, the recruiting, player development, coaching and results have all been very good.

I get that you're hungry for a flag after a 20 year drought and reaching Prelims has raised your expectations to the point where anything less than a flag is seen as a failure. But you've got to realise that winning premierships is not Port's divine right, no matter what the motto says on the walls of your clubrooms.

AFL premierships are bloody hard to win and you need a lot of luck. Look at all the luck that Collingwood enjoyed this September. Best team all year, and had the MCG home ground advantage, but won by a bee's dick in 3 successive finals - mostly outplayed by Giants & Dees and the GF went down to the wire.

What about Brisbane's recent history? They've been strong contenders for the past 5 years (better than Port) and yet they are also without a flag after a 20 year drought.

All that Ken and the boys can do is keep backing up every year, keep putting themselves in top 4 contention and hope to have a little luck in September with your best players injury free and hitting top form.

I think there is still some improvement to come from Butters, Rozee, Horne-Francis, Bergman, Duursma and Marshall. You guys are soooo close. I don't get why the Port fanbase can't get fully behind the coach & players instead of constantly trying to tear things apart (pardon the pun.)

They consistently fail in cut throat finals
The media give donuts so much protection compared to say premiership coaches in beveridge or Goodwin

I was astounded that Hinkley told media that he didn’t know how they lost after Russell Ebert tribute game last year (that game was how I found this thread). Hinkley is the longest serving coach in afl history to fail to make a grand final and port supporters are being told to put up with it and not question it - that is the crap they have to push against
