I’m on tenterhooks as to how he’ll spin this 4-game bloc after the Cats do their usual Torquay-Two Step on our self-dug graves.

We will get Grundy, ratugolea , zerg Thatcher and he will claim its the beginning of hinkley ultra mega super dooper mega trooper ultra megaman team football.

Then we will start 5-5 win 4 in a row he'll get smug and eventually leads to a home elimination loss after we lead by 4 goals in the 3rd qtr against a team that was 13th in round 20 and claims Jones kicks hit his boot at 2 cm off centre a lot and it puts the whole team off

Donuts would be spewing about Brisbane losing. Dropping out of top 2 and not having tha first home final takes the pressure off. Then not getting a home prelim is even better if they make it. It's not a choke then. Gives him the out he needs.

Sorry to intrude but there is a bit of talk that there will be a succession plan announced. Ken will coach in 2024 then carr takes over in 2025. Also ken wouldn't be offered a better deal elsewhere.
Seriously if I was Carr, I wouldn't agree with those terms.

Do we really need/want a handover of the last 11 years?!?!

Personally I'd want a new voice to shake the place up and freshen up the players. Hopefully reinvigorate a few like Ollie and co.

If Josh gets the nod, if anything I want him to demand a fresh set of assistants not a steady as you go approach.

If he's happy to have a transition year I'm not convinced he's the right fit.

Remember we're talking Kenny, not a hand over from Jack Cahill.

That's the only way I could see a 1 year extension working.

This is a more accurate account of where we really sit.

1st - Collingwood 132.7 %
3rd - Brisbane 125.2 %
4th - Mebourne 123.7 %
9th - Geelong 119.5 %
6th - Carlton 116.5 %
12th - Adelaide 116 %
10th - Sydney 111.2 %
2nd - Port Adelaide 109.8 %
The draw has a fair say in some of the percentage. Carton played WC twice.. Sydney won by 171.. we cued the rack when we had our chance

Getting smashed when we lose doesn't help either. If we exclude the second loss to Collingwood our average losing margin is 50 points, factoring in that game and its 40 points.

What would be the point of that? Honestly? Carr is ready. Hinkley is a proven loser. Why on earth would anybody (outside Hinkley getting another year of coin) do that? It makes zero sense.
Would only happen if they announce a sucession plan. I could live with that. As an alternative

Seriously what has Hinkley done to deserve one more year under a succession plan ?

The only way the club could justify that is if we win a flag, anything short of that and its totally pointless. Its symbolic of this clubs problems for most of the last decade, they are too weak to tell Hinkley you haven't delivered any success in over a decade so we will be looking elsewhere.

But why would they? He's out of contract. The opportunity to get rid of him with no strings attached is there. Carr is ready now. Keeping him on for another year is completely pointless.

They have been too weak to sack him, now they might also be too weak to say no you're not getting an extension.

Exactly but I'm just responding to the one year contract rumour. It's the only way it makes sense.

Koch probably thinks he deserves another super top up.

Cause of Koch and our pissweak board.

If it’s 3 years vs 1 year succession..that might be our best result cause I can’t see them sacking him.. they are 2
Pissweak

They haven’t made one hard decision on a decade why start now

The August deadline was seen as convenient because they didn't expect us to make the 8 (or just fall in) and it would be an easy call. I thought we would finish 8-12 this year.

The 13 game winning streak threw it all into disarray and now they have to reconsider their timeline or approach.

the AFL probably don't quite have a job lined up for him for next season but do in 2025. so it's easy for them to gift him 12 more months at Port before getting a phony development role or something. perhaps they were lining him up at Gold Coast but Hardwick became an option. it literally just comes down to keeping him in the system until they move the pieces around. they don't care if we hate it for another year. we'll still have 60000 members and good home crowds and all that. if anything they probably have data or could manipulate data to suggest it'll take a hit if there's a change.

Did he coach the game on the weekend though?
People saying "it's not that black and white!". Yeah, no s**t, that's my point. I'm as over Hinkley as everyone else, I'm also over people making wild unsubstantiated claims about "who's actually coaching" and what deals have already been done etc. I bloody hope they haven't already been done because we are looking cooked and we revert back to the same old "bomb it to Dixon" crap. Still coming out like a wet blanket in big games. My only hope is that we are undergoing heavy training loads but really the most obvious reason is we are cooked after our undefeated streak.

We are cooked to a degree. We do have a couple of massive holes in our list that we are struggling to cover. I’d also suggest that there’s an element of falling back into old habits under the strain of all this.

These are Hinkley legacy problems and they’re here whether Ken or Carr are currently moving the magnets.
