Roast Sack Koch - Chairman of The Redeem Team

Having finished 5th, you'd think we'll be handed a tough early draw again. Imagine the heat on Hinkley and Koch if we're 0-5 again.
There'll be no heat, just some white noise.

0-5 or 0-7 it will still be spun as Hinkley saving us again just like he did in 2022.

At this point you have to realise David Koch is the desperate gambling addict. He's on a massive losing streak, but rather than walk away and take the loss (to his reputation, for repeatedly backing in a perennial loser), he keeps pumping in the money (/contracts) in the hope that it'll come up a winner, telling everyone he's got a strategy and just wait.

There's naive people believing him, letting him keep going. Until that money runs out (Memberships) or it becomes so obvious even the fools (media / happy clappers) stop believing him, he'll keep going. He's like many of those addicts, he's truly convinced himself he actually is on a winning strategy, despite all evidence to the contrary. You can't reason with people in that situation, they have to hit rock bottom or be physically dragged away. So far not enough are withholding the money and only Tredrea and Benny D are out there trying to drag away.

Nah. I think it's just a combination of a) him having no idea what he's doing and b) him having low expectations and a different idea of what success is to the rest of us.

The difference between what Koch is doing and what a gambling addict chasing their losses is doing is that the gambling addict thinks the big win is just around the corner. Koch is not interested in any big win, read winning a flag. He is only interested in stability and financial viability. As we are continually told, winning a flag is too much to expect for a little battler club from Alberton. Making finals is the biggest win he is after which is why he persists with a coach that makes finals half the time.

Koch thinks he has been winning since day one.

It's getting personal now. He's actively trying to undermine supporters. Don't let up anybody. This is a war we must win.

Mr small business has got his metrics and premierships are incidental. His employer and essentially sole stakeholder (the AFL) would be delighted with his performance.

This is what people calling for members to somehow get rid of Koch fail to understand. As long as he continues to keep his masters at the AFL happy he can be chairman of the club as long as he wants.

As PowerLil posted above, he is actively undermining supporters. That's because he knows he is not accountable to the members and supporters. It's all just white noise to him that is a minor irritation while he's doing as he pleases with "his" club.

Yeah Koch puts a dollar in and celebrates the "win" of getting 80c back.

Well we're already a third of the way to matching St. Kilda's drought (19 v 57), and if we keep going like this, we'll match them. Change at Alberton is desperately needed - I want my club back!!!

Is Koch the least successful chairman in the history of the PAFC?
Given what he has had to work with yes. We were a shitshow 2008-2012, but that was in large part due to pre OneClub for part of it, playing out of Crows Park in the middle of nowhere and the SANFL bleeding us dry. Given OneClub, AO and a fair number of those SNAFL constraints (certainly not all) gone, Koch has underperformed. He's the guy doing a 5K cross country run in 4 hours, celebrating because he beat the guy in the wheelchair with broken spokes, whose having rocks thrown at him on the way. Bravo David, bravo.

Woodville and Fitzroy used to be everyones second favourite team, mainly because they never won and everyone had pity towards them.

Why the **** would we want to be that?

It goes hand in glove with the idea the club is entertainment. A media product rather than something people deeply care about.

Duncanson won SANFL flags. given we count them, DK is the least successful for some time.
If not the least successful, then definitely the most unpopular. The day he leaves, there'll be a massive party at Alberton.

When he first spouted that drivel, we were pitched as everyone's second favourite team as we played an exciting brand of 'take it on' football AND had the best game day experience in the AFL. We not soon after turned to a gameplan of moving the ball forward with all the smoothness of a constipated 80 year old and had the GDV replaced with 'Raise your scarves Power fans!' and 'Perfect Pear'.

I wouldn't ever explicitly want us selling ourselves as people's second team, but I'd be stoked if we were back being people second team, because we did play exciting football (and mostly successful in need of some tweaks, not thrown out ala 2015).

With Koch things are rarely what they seem to be.

He wanted us to go after CROWS supporters to become members.

You want to be everyone's second favourite team for exactly one year, as you win games in exciting fashion, blitz up the ladder, and end up toppling those previously more successful than you in the finals and, ultimately, the grand final. From that point though, you then become the hunted, and become the team everyone hates and everyone wants to lose, as you build a dynasty.

If you're a second favourite team for too long it means you've been shit and inoffensive for too long.
