FMD, what a bunch of sooks!

I'm ok with the move because just like with on field list management, the off field team should be tweaked in the pursuit of excellence.

The club is being run professionally and this is quite normal imo.

Besides, from the outside looking in who knows if Toce was totally aligned with RTB & SOS in regards to the latest draft picks. If the answer to that question is no then the decision would have been crystal clear to club management.

I'm backing the club in here.

The harder they work the luckier we all become

Hi Tocey
Hi SOS

I've got my eye on a young Carlton player , he hasn't played well so far , and Carlton will probably delist him, so i think we should get him.

Well with all due respect SOS ,i can name half a dozen players who i think would be better prospects, did you see those South Australian Guys?

YOU DISRESPECTFUL BASTARD, YOU'RE FIRED.

Well this is a stunning and out of the blue development.

Though it is symptomatic that our football department is leaving no stone unturned in trying to improve every aspect of our football.

Hard calls made on Billings and Gresh as an example. And from what can I see as an outsider an even harsher call made now on Toce.

I will reserve judgement until we see who is coming in.

But this is either a very brave, or very stupid move. ;)

Our last 3 years has been our best 3 years of drafting and trading for many, many years and from the outside Toce has been vital to our draft calls.

is rated as one of if not the best in the business at his job.

Thats very far from past his prime by 15 years.

His best work was when he built the flag Dogs. Been pretty average since being at Sydney. Chad Warner and Jordan Dawson were his two best hits ate the Swans. The rest of their best are free hits.

Would have kept Toce myself.

Was the SA guy that nabbed Wilkie and Sharman with loose change before that. He has been great.
Hmm ….🤔

Okay if you give him Wilkie and Sharman

Then he doesn’t get Caminiti or stocker.

Can’t have Windhager or Owens (academy)

So he gets big ticks for Wilkie Sharman Pou and Nas - even then, he was appointed national manager after these guys were all taken (not Pou). He was state recruiter for Victoria and Allies from 2019-2022 Feb.

Which would mean he is also as responsible for Allison.

If I exclude the Swans academy. They still take Chad Warner as an outright selection who is an utter ****ing gun. Logan McDonald who looks good and Freo are apparently going to offer a kings ransom for.

Rowbottom McLean McInerney also good wins for him at the swans.

At the dogs he is responsible for Bont McCrae Dalhaus Johannieson Dickson Stringer McLean Dale Daniel Adams Williams Lipinski English Naughton and Richards

If what is being said by Cerny pans out. This is a massive upgrade

Yeah nah I don’t agree with this.

After a decade of “trusting” the club we finally seemed to have turned the corner.

The optimism we have had has largely been because of both we have a competent coach and more importantly we have some genuinely exciting talent.

Now we’ve knifed the bloke who has been responsible for getting most of the talented young players we have.

As I said none of us know the internal dynamics so we can’t comment but to have some level of apprehension isn’t being a sook lol.

We’ve had one decent year, jury is still very much out regardless of how much faith I have in Ross.
People are being miserable because they sacked Toce and then refusing to accept what was immediately released by the media at the same time, which was wanting to replace him with a significant upgrade.

You can still say hey thanks for the good job. But also, we want to bring in better as we have the opportunity too.

I’d imagine people would also be miserable if we were trading Sinclair for a prime Rob Harvey too.

This current regime hasn’t put a foot wrong in 12 months and in that time they have gutted an entire football department - including coach, football boss, list manager, Head of Fitness, coaching panel, fitness coaches and now national recruiting boss.

With each replacement being a proven name in the industry.

None of us know the workings of a recruitment manager much less the working relationship Toce had, his KPI's, CRA's or the process involved.

One thing I know is it seems the club is leaving no stone unturned in its quest to be in contention, aomething we haven't been in a decade.

So we should just blindly love the move because rUtHLesSnEsS without knowing anything.

People can have an opinion one way or another lol and from an outside view Toce did a great job the last few years. Throwing out a guy who is doing a great job is obviously going to be met with some concern.

I will say that perhaps we've lionised Chris Toce over the years because of his record for us in SA, but Highmore being delisted and Robbie Young washing out after a year undermines the myth somewhat.

Yes Wilkie was a great get but so were Marshall and Sinclair and we don't even know who their scouts were.

Ryder was a great call, but not exactly a hidden gem, and both Mattaes and Nas were simply the best available at our picks, most would have picked both.

Ditto for both Owens and Windhager since Toce went National. Our academy was fortunate enough to be the closest to both players and the rest is history.

I'm not saying Toce wasn't good, but maybe we are giving him a wee bit too much credit.

Don’t think to many are being miserable, many acknowledging Toce did a very good job and it’s a surprise that he has moved on and a replacement is yet to be 💯 confirmed

I think the Misson appointment isn’t a great one but if we keep improving like last year it won’t matter

A few post back you were saying how good he was

I think he's good, but maybe we actually need to take stock of how good.

It's possible I'm forgetting some of his work and not giving him enough credit so feel free to enlighten me (not being sarcastic here)

He's turned the list around and mostly through youth. Change can be good but sometimes it's better to stick to what you have that is working. Malcolm Bligh was going to be our next premiership coach. Going for big names doesn't always work.

You should take your lover Mike's advice and stop going half cocked, Perth. Have a read of my opinion earlier in this thread if needed 😘

I’m probably like a few others that are a bit surprised and thought he was pretty safe

Club has got most right of late let’s hope this one is on money

You're doing a great job George

He was national Head Of Recruiting Manager for 2 drafts.

Which means he nailed Phillipou and it’s too early to tell any of the others.

He didn’t make the final decision selecting Wilkie or Nas. He obviously did a hell of a lot of the scouting work and talent identification- but that is very different to being the man that sits with the list manager and is involved in the final call
