Except the statement mission released clearly says the role will report under Gubby
That’s true for the “new role” of talent Id and player movement (whatever that it is)
Does that mean the final say of a Nat Recruitment Mngr traditional role is redundant..cause that now is owned by SOS? (talent ID doesn’t sound as senior but could be wrong)
Hard to know just speculation
If the replacement isn’t Dalrymple or better it’s a step back for mine

Hmm ….🤔

Okay if you give him Wilkie and Sharman

Then he doesn’t get Caminiti or stocker.

Can’t have Windhager or Owens (academy)

So he gets big ticks for Wilkie Sharman Pou and Nas - even then, he was appointed national manager after these guys were all taken (not Pou). He was state recruiter for Victoria and Allies from 2019-2022 Feb.

He had 3 years 2 months when he was State Recruiting Manager for both of:
  • Victoria & Allies
  • SA & WA

Which would mean he is also as responsible for Allison.

To be fair, there was not much after Allison apart from Academy picks.

The real issue with Allison was whomever gave him his last extension of the length it was.

The way I look at it is this.

Toce has been quite good for us. But I assume we are getting an upgrade.

The same logic would be if we could say swap Steele for Petracca at present, then I am sure the club would do that too, and for the same reason in that it will help to make us a Top 4 team and in turn a Flag Contender. Ruthless yes.

I get that it doesn't really make sense to have both a National Recruiting Manager (Toce) and a Head of Talent And Acquisition (Gubby), one position should be made redundant ideally.

I just don't get why you'd keep Gubby and let go of someone who's building a record as a good eye. Gubby Allen must be doing very impressive work behind the scenes I guess.

I feel like we're giving up Zac Butters to keep Joel Selwood.

Not sure why the overlap matters?

The draft is November 2022

Because if the title is anything to go by it is a broader role then just drafting and would explain how we are able to attract someone like Dalrymple?

"Following this review, the decision has been made to introduce a new role, talent identification and player movement manager, which will report into our head of talent and acquisition, Graeme Allan.

With all of Sos, Gubby and whoever we get, we seem to be looking pretty top heavy.
What about the guys who watch games and identify talent?

I’d imagine we have scouts.

Which is what Toce was for the majority of the time he was with us

Yeah, I guess I don't really understand the different responsibilities of:

List manager (SOS)
Head of talent and acquisition (Gubby)
Talent identification and player movement manager (Dimple)

Return of the trout.

Don't say that! Not even in jest!

He's turned the list around and mostly through youth. Change can be good but sometimes it's better to stick to what you have that is working. Malcolm Bligh was going to be our next premiership coach. Going for big names doesn't always work.
So he on his own turned the list around when he was only in charge for the Pou Draft and the Wilson draft (at which point sos and gubby are well and truly running the show)?

He did a good job

He isn’t solely responsible for the turn around of our list.
