SANFL Trials 2009

Correct. :thumbsu: Oval was in terrific condition.

Pretty decent weather and a nice day out. Norwood fielded an extremely young and inexperienced side, it was virtually our reserves out there plus a few AFL listed guys.

You wouldn't have a list of who didn't play for us Drum?

Thirteen Crows played in SANFL trials on the weekend.

Nick Gill, squeezed out of Adelaide’s last NAB Challenge line-up, was solid for North Adelaide against the Eagles. He recorded 14 kicks, four handballs, eight marks and kicked 3.2.

Phil Davis played in the league trial and had 17 possessions as a defender while Rory Sloane – who came on a sub late in Friday night’s game against Sydney – picked up eight possessions in a half. Tony Armstrong played on a wing for North and collected 15 possessions.

Rookie Chris Schmidt was rated West Adelaide’s best in its narrow win over Central District. Playing in defence, the former Brisbane Lion had 25 disposals. Brad Moran (12 possessions) also was listed among West’s best.

Shaun McKernan tried hard for South but the team was thrashed by Glenelg. He started at full forward and then had a run in defence and in the ruck, finishing with 13 disposals. James Sellar played at centre half back for Glenelg and had 11 possessions.

Brodie Martin finished with 15 possessions in Sturt’s win over Norwood, who had Aaron Kite in defence.

In reserves games, Tom Lee booted four goals from four kicks for Sturt. Will Young played a half in both the league and reserves trials for Norwood while Brian Donnelly was good defensively at centre half back for Glenelg.

Good to see Tom Lee kick some goals - and Phil Davis get a few touches.

Lee kicking 4 goals is good, but wow, Chris Schmidt best for West, when they beat Centrals? That's impressive!

I still think he's first in line for an upgrade.

Is Henderson still injured?
Centrals arent playing a very strong team at all at the moment. According to a bloke who plays league for Norwood its pratically their B grade running around at the moment.

I hope we can get a report on the guys I highlighted. I am really looking forward to seeing Douglas this season. If he has been moved into the midfield I hope he is given the chance to show some of the skills that lead to Rowie calling him better than Gibbs.

As for the rest... I'm just interested :D

I'm tempted to go down to Richmond to see Dangerfield, Schmidt and Porplyzia. But then again it's a pretty long drive and the game starts at 10:30.

And congrats, another mention of Rowe and his Douglas > Gibbs comment...

The simple fact is he said it, I can't unsay it. I'm not saying its true, I'm just looking for evidence.

no need to be a dick about it.

Well then don't even post it because we all know it's rubbish. :thumbsu:

That's no reason not to post it - almost everything said on here is rubbish, so Rowie's stupidness would fit in fine.

I don't see what is so bad about what Rowe said. He wasn't talking about now, but the year they played together at Glenelg. I didn't see a huge amount of Glenelg games that year but from what I did see I don't think it's too unfair to argue Douglas was ahead of Gibbs, although there probably wasn't much between them. Douglas is two years older than Gibbs, though.

No Otten, certainty for round one then?

Be good to see a lot of then get a run, including the Porps and Danger

it means absolutely nothing

each club needs to demostrate to the afl that a player has had limited footy, in Otten case he has played every trial game so whether he is or isn't a certainty for round 1 it would of been difficult for the club to justify Andy to play an additional trial game
