Wait, why are you talking about underpriced guys? I keep seeing you say that you are going 100% premiums/rookies...

I personally think there is a good argument to be made this year for a few of the value picks at a discount.

Re: 2011 defenders thread

Richardson, Coad, Iles, Faulks, Duigan, theres 5 rookie who would be expected to play without watching pre-season form.

For premium locks, Goddard, Gibbs and Deledio, all who are C/B

Robert Murphy I'm considering as he is also DP (F/B)

Players who im looking at who i dont think will be popular include Harry O'Brien, Jackson Trengove (Port), and Pearce Hanley

Re: 2011 SC Defenders Discussion Thread

Thoughts on Taylor Hunt? I can see any better options in the $200-280k area. Will he play 22 games?

Re: 2011 SC Defenders Discussion Thread

I have Goddard, Gibbs and Deledio locked in and I think Bruce, Otten and Gilbert are probables. Is Otten this year's Malceski?

Other players I'll look at will be Laidler, Drum, X Clarke, Heppell, Hibberd, etc.

EDIT: Laidler will probably be too expensive, and Clarke is injured.

defitnetly

The key difference is that when Malceski did his injury, he had averaged over 100 the year before it and was in his third season. Then came back for two half years averaged 62 and 51.

Otten averaged 76 in his first year, which is fantastic, but to expect him to come straight back into the side and dominate is asking a little much for mine. Might return a 70+ average, but I reckon 90+ will be asking a little much.

Re: 2011 SC Defenders Discussion Thread

if there were not so many retirements at adelaide i wouldnt be so confident of him being a keeper but with so many more points up for grabs he will be a huge benefactor of it

Plus I have read that they plan to play him in the middle. This will help rack up a few more points and he is training well :)

Re: 2011 SC Defenders Discussion Thread

Jack Grimes definitely worth a look in, if he can stay injury free. Should be able to hit triple figures more often this year, and he shouldn't be expensive.

Was going to pick him, went broughton instead

Re: 2011 SC Defenders Discussion Thread

Broughton will be in my side also. Gibbs, Deledio are pretty obvious picks this year. Considering Hurley or Gilbert as backs and the other as a forward just to add more dual positioning options into the team. Is Rawlings worth a look even at a hefty starting price?

Re: 2011 SC Defenders Discussion Thread

Any love for Bower here??? When fit he racks up some good numbers. Or does the injury history turn people off?

Yeah, was actually contemplating him earlier today mate. I guess depending on what other risks find their way into my team... He'd be a pretty good risk to take if he's liekly to stay fit and keep up his average.

Re: 2011 SC Defenders Discussion Thread

I would have thought Jack, Goodes and McVeigh were ahead of him in the tagging order.

If Mal plays more midfield he won't be able to have as many long kicks as he usually does which is what made him such a good scorer in the past.

Re: 2011 SC Defenders Discussion Thread

He plays off half back, so i'm assuming there will be a forward tag at times on him, not really a traditional tag like the one the 3 players you mentioned would get. At the very least the opposition will be more accountable of him, on too many occasions last season it looked like he was allowed to run the ball without any pressure.

Re: 2011 SC Defenders Discussion Thread

Why the hell is Cam Richardson a forward? Every year it is a struggle to find cash cow defenders and they go and make Cam a forward!

He's played the last 2 years of VFL in the backline. Who on god's earth decided to make him a forward?
