Every season, the EKA Medal is awarded to the rookie player whom the Committee representatives vote to be the best performed poster amongst that seasons class. The EKA is named after former administrator from seasons 2-4 EaglesKickAss, and has been awarded since Season 8. Some of the best Qootiers of all time have won this award, including The Half Back, pantskyle, brahj, Wosh, Elton Johns Wig & Barrybran all of whom went on to bigger and better things.

This season, 14 rookies were nominated for this seasons EKA. tigs2010, Ligma, Braklet, JustaBattler, Cubs2Lions, @uneggs, @jamescolarado, CatToTheFuture, DragoDelph, AnUltimateRessie, Falconista, ossie_21, Dominic03 & weltschmerz were all nominated by their respective clubs.

Each club committee captain sent their 3-2-1 votes for best performed rookie this season and without furthur ado, I will announce the top 3.

In third place on 13 votes is Furies rookie James Colorado. JC was consistently a positive and enthusiastic voice at the Furies this season. His posting was intelligent and considered and he always looked to engage the opposition and celebrate his teammates. As his tribute thread to his former teammates showed. James was a great addition to the Furies and the league this season.

In second place is, getting 15 votes from club captains is Dragons rookie Braklet. served the role of the drunken joker for the Dragons this season. Entering the threads from the comfort of his US timezone, Braklet would invigorate them late at night with his eclectic humour and allegories, brazenly stringing several posts together. Braklet’s jovial nature and carefree attitude were well received this season.

and without further ado, the winner of the Season 33 EKA medal, getting votes from every club captain (obviously apart from his own) and getting a total of 25 votes, is DragoDelph from the Dragons. Drago's first foray into the Sweet FA media, ‘Dear Drago’, saw him posting anonymous confessions and various forms of slander on behalf of others. Drago’s devilish humour, and love for salacious gossip endeared him into the hearts of many Sweet FA users at a very early stage in his career. From then on, Drago became a vital member of the Dragons posting unit, adding his good-natured humour, Bonz-esque art, or something amusing he found on the internet.

In the first of 3 meetings between future Preliminary Final opponents, the 2nd placed Bombers hosted the 3rd placed Phoenix. Despite a strong second stanza by the away team, the Bombers kept the Phoenix goalless in the last quarter in a 52 point massacre. The Warriors & Swamprats match was level at the final break before BEEG led the Coney Island outfit to a comfortable 31 point win with 3 last quarter goals. After conceding 2 early goals, the Dragons led the Royals comfortably until a 6 goal to 3 final quarter by PMBangers ' side set up a thrilling finish. Unfortunately for spookism , he was the villain missing a late shot at goal ... Dragons by a solitary point! The Gumbies led by as much as 23 points early in the second quarter of their match before the Bears came out of hibernation & won by 17 points in a massive turnaround. There was a big upset at Buller with the Demons in front for all but a few minutes in a 42 point belting of the Roys. The final game of the round was a wooden spoon shaping tussle between the bottom two teams on the ladder. Co-Captain TJASTA was proud of the Furies' lack of effort in a 36 point loss to the Wonders.

BEEG scored 7 goals & Agent93 finished on a massive 131 DT points.

The Wonders started the round with back to back wins to keep their faint finals hopes alive. Moz led from the front with 4 goals straight & 111 DT points in a comfortable 44 point upset victory over the ladder leading Bombers. The Phoenix led by 20 points in their contest against the Warriors. They held that margin for most of the game on their way to a 23 point win. The Gumbies outscored the Demons 8.2 to 5.8 in a high scoring second stanza. The Demons were left ruing missed opportunities in a 26 point defeat. The Furies dented their wooden spoon credentials with a 7 goal to 2 start against the Roys on their way to a 46 point romp. In another match that had major implications on final ladder placings, the Swamprats hosted the Dragons. Despite a 6 goal to 2 final quarter, the dirty Rats went down by the barest of margins. In yet another thriller, the Royals led the Bears by 6 behinds at 3/4 time. The last quarter was a low scoring affair & the final shot on goal came with 5 minutes to go. Smartys Power missed his chance to be a hero ... Bears held on by 2 points!

Barrybran kicked 7.2 & Catsnlakers 7.1 while Brick Loosener ended on an amazing 134 points.

It was top v bottom at Gumbyville, and the result played out accordingly, with the Gumbies smashing the Furies by 10 goals. The Royals put a severe dent in the Demons’ finals hopes, winning by 6 goals. The Bombers made sure of a top 4 finish, beating the Warriors by 5 goals. The Roys hammered the hapless Wonders by 10 goals. The Dragons won a high scoring thriller against the Phoenix. And the Bears outlasted the Swamprats in another high scoring encounter, kicking the last 3 goals after the Rats hit the front during the final term.

Itsmyshow played a starring role in his team’s loss against the Dragons, scoring 8 goals. Mooch kicked 6 against the Wonders. And @Barryban booted 5 against the spoon favourites.
