^On the "Chad Cornes is now $hit issue", I'd just like to say that I believe Chad will bounce back. We've seen a couple of games, and he hasn't been great (maybe understatement) and yes his last two years have been pretty crap also (would like to point out plagued with injury) BUT he's just getting settled back there, and as he said on radio today, may take a more shut down role this year. Chad'll do good :thumbsu:

Chad isn't "shit", more he's been out of form for a while. Injuries and all things considered, he really needs to show the world he's capable of regaining his best, otherwise he's just a senior player filling the list.

On the season previews, I've not been impressed with the quality or depth of any one piece of work especially those written by "expert" journalists.

No joke, have a look at this ripper from Colbert

Particularly;

"They have had just about their best side out in the NAB Cup and I am not convinced it's good enough."

:/

I might have more faith in Colbert's assessment skills if he hadn't decided to ditch the club he was captain of so that they could win premierships without him.

Unitl the trial games begun most Port supporters wanted this to occur too.

Dont get me wrong, I wasn't really having a go at Chad just more the fact that it was unprofessional to portray that he can still hold up our backline in the article. These types of articles should be researched to a "T" before written.

BTW, Most port supporters wanted this to occur because it's the only position he really had an impact in...he wasn't really a successful midfielder really and he wasn't a forward at all....I still have faith Chad can produce in the backlines but he won't be the be all and end all.

"After a tough year both on and off the field, the Power are desperate to recapture the winning culture that the club was built on"

Pity the writer can't get the club name right.

You'd think a credible journo could at least be right on this part.... There's been enough media releases by the club on what their correct name is.

I would give Chad until Round 5 to show he his capable to keeping his position... if not then bring in Jackson Trengove (I am really impressed with him).

IMO I Chad has lost the desire to contribute for an entire season. Sure he might get himself up for some big games here and there, but motivation has always been an issue for him. He seems to get to easily satisfied. Early in his career after proving himself as a foward he seemed to plateau out before being re-motivated by moving to CHB. Then plateaued again at CHB before moving to the midfield where he again was re-motivated. He seems to have plateaued again in the middle and injuries have only compounded this.

I am hoping the move back to CHB will re-motivate Chad, but my gut feel is he will struggle for consistency either due to injuries, interest or both.

So give him 5 games to prove his desire otherwise I would rather see a young, "itching at the bit" JT slot in.

Play him in the ruck....might motivate him

I think for Chad there has always been this huge weight of expectation placed upon him and we all know living up to expectation is hard and often not possible for whatever reason. In Chads case i think you will find his non ability to meet everybody's expectations stems from 1) his body and 2) the thing that rests on his shoulders.

I think we as supporters should look at his performance from a team perspective, and really thinking about the role he has been assigned for particular matches etc and judge him on that. The trouble has also been his continual change of position means for example when he is not picking up huge possessions and he has been playing in the midfield but against a particular opponent has gone back on a particular day we immediately judge him based on pre conceptions, and often un rightfully so.

But saying all this there is no doubting he has underperformed in this stable CHB role during the preseason.

If we carry him till round 5 we may as well go one more match, round 6 vs the Cows, Chad only needs one thing to gethim going, His old mans mob!

I'm sure we have enough talent to make the finals this year
We need to win all those (should win games)
plus our share of the 50/50 games.....and throw in a couple of upset wins
sadly we have lost the plot of winning the close games, in 2007 we won just about everyone but since then can not buy one with a fist full of fifties!
