Re: Selection

Ok, I'm shocked.

Goldsack out, yet McCarthy and Dick stay in, I really don't get that.

The Ins are right though, no problems there, I hope Rusty gets a game ahead of Wellingham, McCarthy or Dick.

Re: Selection

I expect they're saving Rocca for the GF.
Zero chance of that.

Happy enough with the changes though. I loved Goldsack's game last week, but realistically he can only be in the side when the opposition has an excess of third tall type forwards, which isn't St Kilda.

Re: Selection

Saints changes few good ins for them
got it on saintsational
IN - M Gardiner, L Ball, J Geary, M Hudghton OUT - B McEvoy

Re: Selection

I suspect they'll give McCArthy one more chance - highly regarded at Collingwood and they're trying to play him into AFL form - and Sidey. Not sure about the 4th (other spot should be N Brown or Wood - probably N Brown I guess). Maybe Wello simply because he is more experienced and 3 rookie mids is a bit much.

Re: Selection

The fact that Leigh Brown gets a gig in the 18 whilst Nathan Brown is on the bench leads me to believe it'll be come Sunday:

L.Brown and Pendlebury
for
Goldsack and McCarthy

So Wood, Dick, Beams and Wellingham from the extended bench.

Thought Nathan Brown might be the better matchup for Riewoldt (assuming Presti gets Kosi), but Mick might keep the faith in Leroy as he has played more senior footy this year.

How about we don't try play people into AFL worthy form in a final. we have 22 weeks before to do that if you don't cut it, you try again next season thanks.

I don't know if Dick has enough grunt to play a final at this stage of his career.

I'd play McCarthy forward. His hard at it and I wouldn't be surprised if he could scrap a few goals during the game through sheer grunt up forward.

Gardiner named on the Stkilda bench leads me to believe his hammy is still worrying him.

I hope they play Luke Ball, he will be good early but just won't be able to go all day.

My ins from that team would be;

In: L.Brown, Pendles, Sidebottom

Out: Goldsack, Dick, McCarthy

Put Steele in the forward pocket, will have greater forward pressure then Dick, and he just happened to kick 10 in a big game last year, and he can also help the rotating mids which Dick can't do.

The only conclusions I can make, based on that side with extended bench, are:
a) The Sack is very unlucky
b) MM agrees that Rocca isn't ready and may never be
c) Marty Clarke may be pulling the pin. :(

I almost guarantee Marty Clarke will be at Collingwood still next year.

What has happened is he missed more then a week of training and preparation when he went to Ireland, and only last week did he return to his best form.

With the way finals football is, injuries are almost certain to occur, and the only way Marty may not get a game is if the selected side this week wins and therefore few changes are required.

I agree with the other 2 points, will be interesting to see which side is picked tomorrow night with the final inclusions/exclusions.

As for Marty, people that know him well have previously said he won't leave until he achieves everything he wants to, and he hasn't done that yet, so I'm confident not only he will stay, but he will play senior footy again this year.
