No offense to any Sth Yarra players, but if you were throwing around some coin, surely it could be spent more wisely.

We dont pay anyone at Sth Yarra only payments are incentives so play well u get rewarded thats a fair system dont you think?

Your authority may be off the mark, considering West Heidelberg have NO money and have struggled at the bottom of the ladder for the past 6 - 8 years. They would be lucky to pay anyone let alone pay big money.

You may be thinking of the club across the road who have a budget of about $200k for player payments (heidelberg), West would be lucky to have $2K for player payments.

Definately not across the road Old timer, know who their main sponsor is.
Heidlberg West have some cash floating around don't worry about that.

They may have some cash floating around but that would be to pay off past debts.

If they did have plenty of cash as you suggest then why would they be chasing players from a club that finished in the bottom 2 of Divison 3 Southern. Why wouldn't they be targeting better players??

Their debts were paid off before the end of 2007.
Not really sure why they are chasing Div 3 players. Some of them have some ability. Couple of blokes from Skye in particular.

I was talking about Heidlberg West, not Sth Yarra.
Like oldtimer said, you wouldn't be poaching players from a team that finished bottom 2 in Div 3 if you had money to throw around.
It just seems a little bewildering.

Just watched the 2nd Doveton v South Yarra Reserves game on DVD this morning. It's the only one I have left! Mundy, Hadley and Nick Pryor cleaned out my DVDs on Presentation night. Good game though. Even had the great Nick Coutts kicking the dew. That Mayo doesn't mind fighting. Andrew Mundy on Pete Dye was a good contest all day. Really need to find something else to do with my time...
