Frankencow is correct - we have approached the SFL to run a second reserve grade side (as we had thought of doing last year), and it looks like they will play in the place of Sandown Cobras reserves (who by all accounts will only run one side). The league has been very co-operative as far as this goes, as we have been uncertain of whether or not to continue down this path until recent weeks. I guess the best part is that we won't have a lot of guys missing games like we did last year, so everyone will be match fit if needed.

Holy crap, I was joking. :D I mean, uh... Get all your inside mail here... :thumbsu: How's that going to work? Separate team lists? I'm sure they'll want to avoid stacking teams depending on the opposition, a la when Australia pinched Paul Reiffel from Australia A all those years ago...

I'd say we'll probably have our best second side and then who's left to play in the 3rd side. Will probably mean that they will be a weak side, but you never know. At least they're getting a game.

The question then is, will we hear the 3rd side ROARRRRR!!!!! :D Who's pulling on the big number 38?

its april 1st i have recovered from foot injury training was always begining now for me, although the number 38 maybe a bit small at the moment may have to train five nights a week for a month or so to catch up :thumbsu::thumbsu:

Heard on the grapevine that apparently Sandown will be fielding two sides, according to their President. If that's the case I'd rather send some Mounters over there, splitting up the Seniors and Reserves for everyone else will be crap.

I have it on good authority that the league approached the other clubs in regards to this proposal and it was a BIG NO !

These type of brain fades make the league look like a Social club where all you need to do is get a team together and anyone can play !!!!

Quite agreed Enemy. Mr. Simple's good authority is his free hand. Our president received a phone call from the SFL last night before training giving us the green light for 3 sides - don't believe me, ring the league. If you were at a club that had a lot of players, would you rather be playing every week, or missing out on games? Don't know how strong the side will be, but a game is a game when it's all said and done!

"You can't stop progress!" Enemy pulls out the Bill Heslop quote, but we're talking about the SFL, not Porpoise Spit. I agree it's a positive to get the other players a game, but splitting up a side's Reserves and Seniors is crap. The Seniors coach won't be able to get a look at them, they're not likely to hang around at Away games to watch someone else's Seniors, and if you get a situation where the host of the Seniors doesn't have a team in the Reserves then I can't see why anyone would watch. No crowds means to canteen sales, means less money for all the clubs. Apart from the money side of it, I love watching our Seniors after a game. Good idea if Sandown's twos fold, otherwise terrible idea. What about games like Cerberus? Is it justifiable to get a bus just to take the one side down?
