Of all the stages, 5 is the most exciting for me. I've always thought that city end was an eyesore. Although it served its purpose of course. Also would be nice if they gave us a big bash team. Hoping they don't expand with out us.
Good point. I'd say if Geelong were to get an A-League side they would have to communicate with the Cats and probably partner up in someway like the Newcastle Knights and Jets do.I would probably jump on the bandwagon if Geelong had a "A" league team that operated out of K'Park.
And I am not really a fan of the roundball code, but if they had roughly the colours of the AFL team and a name reflecting any of the Felidae family that are still available, I would most likely support them.
I wonder if it would be beneficial/profitable for the footy club to collaborate with/own/run either an a-league team of a big bash team like collingwood does with the netball team? I noticed the other day that they are advertising a combination membership, where you get 3 games to each or something like that... would a relationship like that be beneficial?Good point. Astonishing, isn't it.You have to subscribe to the Advertiser?

I've always wondered this, with both codes rumored to be keen hopefully they'll pressure one of the sides to make a move on it. Could create a bidding war of sorts.I think a big bash team would be huge for Geelong. Depending on how the league develops over the next few years, it would be 4 to 8 home games over the xmas period, would be good for the town and increases the utilisation of the asset. Only problem is that a cricket pitch would stop a soccer team, and its 13/14 home games. Needs to be weighed up which would be better for Geelong.

Re some people talking about collaboration with the Cats, I know BBL teams have gone out of their way to avoid this (hence 'stars', 'thunder' etc). A joint membership could be possible, but unlikely to be reflected in name, colours etc.
I don't know a huge amount about A-league, but does Simonds being unusable for 2 months mean its curtains for it? I'm desperately hoping for a BBL side tooGeelong is in the box seat for both, Big Bash and A-League.
This notion of AFL v Soccer is just Soccer rubbish. AFL and Soccer aren't rivals the way everything is set up. They could be very complimentary.
Geelong is very high on Cricket Australia's wishlist. The problem then becomes if Cricket is played from Skilled Stadium then Soccer cannot be. Big Bash and A-League are the real rivals. I believe that this rivalry will now see A-League prioritise Geelong over other areas as if Cricket comes first, Soccer will never happen in Geelong. It's a pipedream to suggest that Geelong would build another stadium.
I suspect (and hope) Cricket will win but I think there is going to be a fair bit of conflict over this one as the party that lands first will lock the other one out for good.
