Well we can kind of claim it. Because the original brewery is in Melbourne. Has been for 10 years.

Don't wish to derail the thread in blightyscats fashion but yeah nah.

It began in 2000 in Fremantle at the old crocodile farm on the harbour. They were guys from Matilda Bay who started it.

My favourite place in Australia is Fremantle.

In about 2008 they decommissioned the little creatures brewery and sent it to the Yarra valley where they rebuilt it and made white rabbit.
And they built a new brewery for little creatures.

I know the guy that pulled it apart, rebuilt it, and started white rabbit for them. They poached him from colonial for that sole purpose. I saw that brewery being put back together.

This is all correct but Little Creatures started in Fremantle in around 2000. White Rabbit was their second venture.

Definitely a missed opportunity re. the beer choices. There are many great beers being produced in Geelong and the near by region, eg Odyssey, Blackmans, Cockies, White Rabbit, Prickly Moses... the list goes on although most of them may struggle to produce the quantities required for a football crowd.
Little Creatures should already be partnered with the Cats by now. They are both in South Geelong and are both representing regional Australia in the big league. A Fremantle/Geelong "beer derby" would be a great feature match each year- playing for the Little Creatures Cup, of course!
Despite their W.A. origins Little Creatures is now a big player here. Their beer "village" in South Geelong is a $65 million investment in Geelong and is the place where east coast supplies of Little Creatures originate. White Rabbit relocated from Healesville to Geelong last year and is a great destination in itself. Both the Freo and Geelong venues are wonderful... go, if you haven't already!

And, don't forget, Furphy is Geelong born and bred and dressed in mighty blue and white!

I don't really get into the boutique beers unless I find them really cheap but that does sound like a great idea.
Not sure now but in years past CUB has been the official brewery of the AFL.
Could have something to do with it.
Edit: I think I noticed Cascade or Boags on the menu so maybe not.

The club used to run its own catering. Southcorp or constellation have control of that list. Someone was too lazy to engage multiple suppliers.

And let's remember, this is just the social club. Not the whole ground. It's not hard to give 1000 people something the other 35000 people don't get access to, to make sure they are being 'treated' and keep buying the social club package.
Let's say you bring a guest in. He loves the added stuff that's available, and forks out $800 to join next year. Win.
