Reuben Ginbey’s impressive debut season is over, going in for hamstring surgery tomorrow. Been one of the few shining lights for

in 2023.

FFS how many hammy surgerys for the team now? Gov , Ryan and Ginbey?

Wow, ANOTHER hammy surgery?! Even if he didn't require surgery I wouldn't want to bring him back for the final game anyway if everything went to plan...I honestly cannot believe we have five games to go..it feels like this season's been going for a decade..

Probably just thought that it's better to fix it right now.

We've gone the 'slow' route with managing players over the past few years and most of them ended up missing half the pre-season because of it.

Change in injury management maybe?

It's up on Eagles website now. Being touted as preventative for future injuries. Don't think he was going to play again this season so a proactive approach getting him right for preseason is welcome.

Not all hamstring surgeries are the same so I hope it's on the minor end.

Ginbey's hammy can't be too bad. Or we have just completely lost the plot. Can't read the whole thing but the headline is enough.

We needed a big pre season coz we were the comps worst in terms of fitness and general looking unprofessional.

I'm hoping if we have another great pre season the players will be less chance of niggles and things go from there.

Big if though

All I know is I will never be tricked into those fake ass pre season photos our social media bring out.

Every time I see pre season photos I think geez we look fit and we had a great pre season then look what happen. We shit the bed. Very deceiving pre season photos.

Whats the chances it was a 2-3 weeker, then the injury was exaserbated..leading to the surgery.

If you've got even a niggle in your hamstring you generally won't be running laps at pace.

Methinks our medicos have cocked it up again.

At what point do the AFLPA ask for a review of our S&C purely on a player welfare basis, it's a joke.

For ****s sake!

We will understandably start to lose players very soon if they are completely incapable of rehabbing what was described as a ‘little hamstring’ just over a week ago.

Surgery.

This club is a joke.

As a side, Liam Ryan playing with the kids at ‘Bounce’ today would you believe. Extra surgery required and he’s playing on bloody trampolines.

It was initially reported as a minor hamstring on the day and day after, but in the injury report on the Tuesday it was the old TBC and in media late last week it was mentioned that he (Ginbey) wouldn’t be back this season so assuming that’s when they knew he would need surgery.

Does seem odd he is running laps prior to an operation mind you and I am surely hoping that he would have been given the ok to do that and is not just doing whatever he wants 🤷‍♂️ No help from the AFLPA there I’m afraid.

Maybe it was a really minor niggle, but scan indicated some underlying structural issues that would be best fixed up long-term.

Whatever the case I trust that rag even less than I trust the club.

On CH7 with Ryan Daniels just now, Simpson explained that it was indeed minor and quite low in the hamstring

The operation is a precaution that is intended to strengthen the hamstring for the future

He also said that Shuey’s hamstring is very minor and he’s not feeling any discomfort to the point where he’s a chance to play this weekend pending scans

Yeo a possibility this weekend but if not, will be right the following week

How close to reality any of the above is I wouldn’t now but that is what was said

Sounds like Simpson questioned the S&C team though about why Ginbey was running laps.

I’m really not sure what is going on down there. Doesn’t seem to be a cohesive organisation at present. Why wasn’t Simpson briefed by Finucane before training so he didn’t have to ask the question?

Precisely. I had a minor 2 week hamstring strain earlier in the year and you start off with slow jogging that ramps up gradually before anything explosive. Just another sign that our training is messed up (given the number of injuries that have occurred over the last few years)

We've been down this road before...
