How familiar are you with our captains, going through history?

How do you think Shuey compares with Murray Rance, for example?

Malaxos wasn't much chop as the captain either, got dropped towards the end

“He's tracking to be our worst captain of all time.”

Disrespectful.
Who's worse? He has the worst win loss ratio by far and doesn't appear to have shown much in the way of leadership.

Not all good players are good Captains. Judd didn't appear to be anything special either, but was arguably our best player of all time.

I was born in 85, so I know of the captains between Glendenning and Worsfold but not much about them. Are they worse though? Has Shuey done anything to show he's even been competent as a captain? Under his leadership the training standards dropped off and we've had our worst run of losses ever.

He mounts a pretty good argument to show he has been the worst captain in our history..

Also shows how times hav changed, we were prepared to drop malaxos and worsfold when they were captain… no chance Shuey under the credits regime would ever be dropped or forced aside

Problem is that Shuey is still heads and shoulders our best player. Until injured against the Dockers he was a clear BOG.

Malaxos was well short of a top player and age caugth up so he couldnt hold a spot asa player. Worsfold was a combative flanker whose body in the end prevented him from holding a spot as a player. Captaincy was secondary. The were both onfield liabilities.

Feels like we are tying shueys leadership qualities to a win loss record that is heavily impacted by our injuries list. We have no insights to what goes on with him and how he leads behind closed doors.

Captaining a super team vs a rebuilding one needs to be considered. Ask Jai culley, Chesser, Bazzo etc for their insights on how he supports them and leads the team.

Shuey is an onfield liability in the fact that he can break down at any moment.

It could be as simple as having to name him so he can fly on the club's account. Otherwise if they bought him a ticket it would probably count toward the salary cap.

He’s apparently a week away from being ready to play a full game. He's travelling as the emergency because, at worst, he can come on as the sub and play half a game.

Otherwise we’d have to take Jamieson or Barnett which would (a) probably deny them a game for the week and (b) mean that if we got forced into a late change, we’d either have a ruck as the sub or we’d go in with two rucks and three key forwards in a wet game.

That's good news! I thought he still had a month left. Will be good to get some more games into him.
