Agree with most of that, although I think the Highett game will be close.

Could Black Rock win by 200????

Highett Doggies got up by 8 today.

Good to see after only winning one game last year!

Well it's fair to say most games went to plan, although Highett sneaking home did hurt the tipsters.

Some big margins, South Yarra, Beena and the Rockers all convincing victors, Caulfield look the goods???

Any reports fellas??

Black rock v yarra shapes as match of the round, should let us know where the yarras are at. Did anyone see the rockers game? How has moorabin come up after their struggle with numbers?

All ok, had 4 on the bench in the 2's..
The will be ok by the looks of it, the 1s will give a few teams a good run I think, few handy players on the park.

Are the Yarra's the team to beat?? or are the Woods struggling??

I wonder if black rock will auction there coaching job on ebay like they did a couple of years ago against sth yarra this week.

Black Rock vs Kangas

Kangas will do ok this year if they can keep that nucleus together, some decent players out on the park for them.
Gee wizz they would have liked to have half of the guys who turned up to watch on the field though. Tootoo, both kiki's and a couple of other ex players were down there watching.

Rockers started of really well early and it was going to be how far after the 1st qtr. Linking up really well from back line through the middle and hitting Kirkland at will. Even with the small ground the White/Kirkland fwd line was working ok.

The 2nd was more of an arm wrestle especially the 2nd half of the qtr with the Kangas coming back into it, more so after a couple fo little scuffles broke out with number 24 from Kangas trying to bash the littlest bloke on the field.

After half time the Kangas came out firing and got within 30 points at one stage but from there on it was down hill for them as the Rockers ran away with it.

A lot of new blokes for both sides. Both sides yet to gell but some really good footy played at each end. Rockers need to work a few things and it will be interesting to see how they stack up against the Yarras this week.
Kangas hopefully can keep that side on the park and they will trouble a few sides down the lower half of the ladder as they had a few decent footballers out there. No 1 took a huge hanger and they have some nippy on ballers, just not a lot of depth as there 2's, even with 4 on the bench compared to Black Rock finishing with 16 on the ground, still lost by 100 points.

Considering that we have a coach now (not a playing coach as we did then) I don't think so..

The fact we were playing Sth Yarra had nothing to do with the idea, it was just a timing thing. we could of done it Vs Sandown a fortnight after (which would of been based on the fact you are trying to assume, that we would definately win) but it didn't fit in with club sponsors who were involved..

For the record we beat Sth Yarra by 50 odd points & Sandown by 20 gls the week in question.. & also pleased a few sponsors from the idea after it was shown on Ten news..

Nice try to open old wounds tho!!

Cheers all and good luck for all games on the weekend!

Couple of good games this weekend:

Caulfield v South Yarra - Thoughts? both sides started the season well.

Tunners v Oaks - Tunners average start to the year, missing quite a few players. Oaks a real chance. How are they travelling this year compared to last? Are the new country boys any good?

Oakleigh went alright against us but they're a couple of big men short, not sure what Pitts is doing but he was in the 2's when we played them.

Tunners and highett look to have found their feet, and tight ones with rockers and the yarras. It looks a pretty even comp at the moment, with some cracking match ups in the next few weeks, ashy v caufield, rockers v highett and yarras v beena. Could take a few weeks to sort this comp out but it should make for some pretty willing footy.

Its definitely a more even field this year compared to years gone by. It seemed to be a theme in div 2 where there was always 2 standout teams (tooronga/tunners 06; dingley/springvale 07; dingley/tunners 08) but could be anyones year in 09 minus a couple.

Good for the comp
