Out of curisoity, why did Josh Bruce leave the Saints?
The club wanted to play 2 rucks (Marshall and Ryder) and wanted to get games into Max King.

In the end there wasn’t going to be room for King, Marshall, Membrey and Bruce so decided Bruce was the one to go.

We used one pick to get Zak Jones in and the other to draft Ryan Byrnes. After 2020 it looked like a good win but Jones has struggled to get on the park since

FYI on the depth issue.

Geelong fans would agree the Cats have strong depth this season. Perhaps our best ever for this Century.

We would have a squad of 32 players genuinely able to play AFL and contribute.

Obviously you can't replace a Jezza, but our squad is deep.

I wouldn’t compare Brown(195), Bradshaw(191) and Lynch(194) to what Dogs have atm.
Naughton is bigger than Lynch who was the Full Forward in those premiership years.
Wait till you find out we have another KPP F/S in this years draft lol.

Who?

Goddamn you guys have been kissed on the dick in the last few years for talls.
Matthew Crofts young lad Jordan. 199cm at the moment and playing for the Calder Cannons. He wouldn't be in the top 10 or anything at this stage from what I can gather but Sam Darcy at this stage last year from memory wasn't touted to go too highly either so who knows.

I think Darcy was a consensus top 20 for a while, he just rocketed up to top 5 in his final year.

Hard to degrudge the dogs anything in terms of luck so good on you guys.

Not having a go because King is injured which is unfortunate.

But as it stands the Dogs have 5 key fwds and the Saints have zero

Crazy

We also have minimal quality midfielders and key backmen while the Dogs have ample stocks.

It’s like we believed that the game would evolve to the point where multiple half back flankers would win you a flag.

Wow ,you're missing four players, how dd Melbourne deal with that?
Maybe add Brown, Brayshaw and Hunter then talk to me about depth.
Gave 3 kids a chance and 2 of them shone. The reserves won it all last year. Sure there's not much established depth, but that's because they hadn't had a chance.

Judd McVee (14 disposals), Bailey Laurie (4 disposals) and who?
Sounds like they really shone, with their limited disposals.

Superb insight. Judd McVee the back pocket should definitely have gotten 30 touches. Chandler was great. Laurie was not.

The more I hear him speak the gladder I am he’s not our coach anymore.
FWIW, my post wasn't in relation to his footy IQ. Just his general everyday intelligence.

The other day he seemed to dismiss university studies on concussion in preference of a YouTube video where a bloke explains it using an onion in a jar.

People that quote TikTok and YouTube as unquestionable and reliable sources of knowledge always concern me.

They’re pretty important players both talent and structure wise.

But by your thinking, you need 7 players out to test your depth?

If those three were out, I’d expect Van Rooyen (key forward, untested at the level, solid VFL form), Hibberd (premiership defender, albeit ageing), James Jordan (key contributor to premiership season) to step in and play their role.

Try 14

The conversation isn’t about saints vs demons. Well aware saints are up against it at present. Hoping they can get the job done this arvo.

Who is making it about Saints v Demons? Not I - perspective is important in this thread especially.
