Roast St Kilda in no mans land

People can change but first they have to admit they have a problem.

Ross refuses to admit the low scoring is a problem and it's his game plan that isn't quite right.

Whenever a journo brings it up in a press conference he gets defensive and has a go at them and denies it's a problem.
I don’t think it can be totally blamed on his game style he just strait out doesn’t have the talent at his disposal to get it done. his first stint at st kilda he had midfield consisting of a prime Goddard Hayes dal Santo Montagna and Riewoldt and Milne up forward , it’s night and day compared to what he has to work with now surely you can see that

Ross has had them playing a system which has achieved better results than where their list is at, creating unrealistic expectations.

They have no classy mids, no decent small forwards and their defenders can be iffy. Problem is Ross will have them finishing too high up the ladder to draft in the top end talent. They’ll have to hope for really good FAs or trades.

What I find poor is a Sydney supporter that’s list is continually propped up with AFL assistance potting a clubs that isn’t.
True

Propped up with Warner from WA and pick 39 in the draft and then Gulden pick 32 and Grundy and James Jordon.

Maybe if the Saints hadn't burnt picks on McCartin, Billings, Coffield and Clark we wouldn't be having this chat.

Just you wait and see.

I loved the bloke but Joey has a massive blind spot when it comes to Ross so you can’t take what he says objectively.

He’s one of Ross’s disciples and was actively cheering for him to get the coaches role.

He’s simply going into bat for a mate and turning the spotlight from Ross onto the list.

The level of analysis is so low in the AFL viewing public that people will swallow what he’s providing as analysis.

Ross’s game style in 2024 is the problem.

When Joey played, Ross was ahead of the pack.

But now, not only is he right back in the pack when it comes to coaching, his turgid, unimaginative style is actually a massive hindrance to development.

Because Ross and his I’ll of defensive coaches are pathological and have I’ll never change, we are stuck with a busted flush of a coach, whose game style does the opposite of developing kids to execute skills in the modern game.

Many St Kilda fans, like their president, will continue to put their head in the sand, and now you’ll see a massive blaming of the list.

It’s not much better than a cult at this stage, with the level some go to defend Ross.

And it’s just not logical. His prehistoric tactics were already out of date at the end of his Freo tenure.

Even worse now, don’t be fooled by kicking into the finals last year.

Will he? I can't see us winning more than two or three more games from here on out, looking at the fixture ahead.

Take Heeney Mills and Blakey pretty handy

I thought you’d won more than 3 games. Your list looks like it needs either 3 hit the draft years or 2 draft years and getting some A graders in through trades/FA.

Even though he’s a one way running mid LDU would be a start and maybe that other North guy with the tattoos.

See this is the classic Ross defence about him getting most from the list

They are far more talented team than what the straight jacketed lifeless game plan offers

Did you forget Mills, Heeney, Blakey, Gulden and Campbell?

Yeah and guess what? We had to use high picks to get them.

Isn't the whole idea to use high picks on good players and not shit players?

If you think that's an AFL conspiracy then that's fine.

And didn't you just win a flag with three father son players?

Seriously get a grip.

I thought Paddy Dow was going to save your midfield MickG88 ?

We had to use high picks to get Heeney Blakey and Mills.

Gulden was in the open draft and nobody besides the Cats wanted him .

Whose fault is shit talent identification?

Not the AFL.fault you burnt picks 4 on will.phillips.

Your mob could have bid on Gulden but you didn't.

Their list is around the 11-13 mark at best. They have gaps in drafted talent and talent clubs would ordinarily trade in. The talent they have drafted in is largely C grade.

yeh na ratten did the samething with the same list almost,

they got rid off two b graders last trade time and brought in two c grade talents, dow and henry. this is on ross the boss as much as anything
