Would horse be concerned by the amount of shots the opposition have had to start the year?

Is it sustainable

IMO no it's not sustainable.

But it could also be balanced out by the fact that our kinda new-look back six and midfields will hopefully start clicking more with each game, which will reduce the opposition's scoring chances.

i don't have to ... if the coaches are happy the way he's going, he stays

and he's not playing for the same spot as papley, that's a stupid comment

but mainly, my argument is that this is a potential 10-year star forward being given the opportunity to play alongside a generational superstar in the twilight of his career ... mcdonald doesn't need to be taking 10 marks and kicking five goals a game
if we were being thumped each week, obviously there'd be far more intense scrutiny on him ...

So if the coaches revert to a 2 tall forward line set up which they did for most of last season? Where does that leave Logan?

At least in the pandemonium of Friday night, none of our missing 5 were found wrapped around the dreaded Moore Park chain fence.

Were the missing 5 ever named?

Were Florent and Warner 2 of the 5?

Yep. And Blakey, Hayward and Rowbottom were stuck over the other side of the field under the McDonald's arches.

It was one of the funniest things I have seen. When the camera panned out to show them stuck there it was like something straight out of the Office.

Necessity creates opportunities. We may have needed too.
I feel our side is more balanced now. We can play whatever balance we need. So as I see it, is not an option anymore unless Horse does for a particular game. I think Logan is in the frame of Horse's mind every week. That is where Logan is.

Agree with this. Wouldn't drop him yet. He could come good.
Didn't exactly come back looking ripped. Looks like he'd rather be playing dungeons and dragons.
Put him in VFL and let him develop. When he wants it bad enough at afl level he'll get in the gym and turn up like he means it.

What's all this talk about there not being a suitable replacement for McDonald at the moment?

Ladhams had a big game in the VFL. Wouldn't mind seeing him come in, and McLean playing as a stay-at-home forward.

I get not wanting to hinder his development, but we're not rebuilding anymore. We're a flag contender, not dropping players until we lose isn't pragmatic at all. We should be trying to find 22 players who we could reasonably expect to contribute to a flag tilt this year.

Highlights of him certainly looked good. Looked good up forward and around the ground, some foot skills too.
I know Horse has favourites and picks players for half a season when they barely deserve it, but as you say, that was in the 'developing the list' stage.
Surely Ladhams gets in over McDonald this week. Though maybe they'll make him do it for a few weeks, and just drop McD for a smaller player.
Though English has quite a motor and it would be good to have Ladhams to give Hickey some spells there.

FFS forgot about Tim English and his annoying as **** Frank Spencer hair

This a real stat and shows how we win.

I have no idea what this is supposed to show. Are they fast? In comparison to who and what? What is the impact of it?
I’m not sure but I suspect it’s pretty quick. When you consider the amount of time walking and standing at stoppages it suggests those players are running pretty hard to achieve that average in defence.

10kmh is a fast jog.

you didn't ... but the implication of your statistics indicates you think he should be "dropped" for not pulling his weight
i don't much care for statistics in cases such as ... he's playing a role in a winning team, with a future role very much in the sights of coaches ...
rather than just spouting stats, actually come up with a good reason to drop him ...
but it won't matter, i don't think there's a reason for him not to be in the senior side, and not much is going to sway me
What role is he playing exactly though? A bystander role?

This is why you are a joke to yourself. You cannot see reality. What reality are you in? Have a look. If McDonald is a bystander(as you have stated) then you are probably a bystander in your own life. Get some credibility and come back and post some sense.

Out.

I think selection looks at a bunch of different things, which includes the opposing match ups.

There’ll be occasions when all of Bell, Wicks, Papley and Gulden play and others where we get the 3 talls.

But none of that says McDonald is shit, as some seem to be suggesting.

I don't think anyone is calling him shit. Expecting more from him is hardly that.

No one has said that McDonald is s**t.

Just that there are players that are out of the team that may deserve a spot more than him.

Does it mess with structure? Maybe, but if you're bringing in McInerny and Papley who do you drop? They're tough questions.

Both Ladhams and Amartey are putting pressure on McLean and the 3rd tall / 2nd ruck spot.. I suspect all three will get games throughout the year
Mclean, Amartey and Ladhams are putting pressure on McDonald
All very good really.
and..
We're always rebuilding.

I don’t think Ladhams is competing for McDonald’s spot. But you’re right - he’s competing for McLean’s position.

Ladhams is a ruck who goes forward a bit. He ain’t a leading forward.

Remember, the Logan comparisons in his draft year were to Nick Riewoldt. He will get around the ground and lead up at the ball.

Ladhams is a ruck. And was only borderline best 22 at Port.

Armatey, on the other hand, is likely to be next in line if Logan remains quiet.
