Perhaps since this is a forum and as such a place to share ideas and opinions, you could specify exactly what you did not agree with so we could better understand your point of view.

Tim Watson said:

“The damage that occurred at that time, I thought it might have eased on him mentally and he might have been able to repair some of those bridges between himself and the game and feel differently about his time and then just appreciated all the great things about the game that were delivered to him, that he earned for himself."

I see a lot of victim blaming in there like Adam is the issue and he should have worked to repair things. That's the issue in a nutshell. Get stuffed, Tim Watson.
I think people are taking it the wrong way , i heard this live

No time too busy defending Adam on social media

Well good luck with that. While i am sure nobody really changes their opinion on social media i do believe there is some importance to providing an alternative view to prevent an echo chamber of racist idiocy and hate.

The Adam Goodes situation is still the biggest blight on the game during my lifetime (yes including the Essendon drugs scandal and 2016 GF).

I can't blame him in the slightest for turning the offer down.

Hopefully one day the AFL's administration will resign/ be voted out, maybe then Goodes may feel comfortable enough to return (a lot of water needs to go under the bridge though).

Pretty much my thinking too Bonz.

Adam walked away from the AFL in the same way they walked away from him (and any effective confrontation of racism). He lost his love of the game and most of the people in it.
Not his Swans family, from whom he has accepted Bloods Legend status, and who he visits occasionally, but the nongs like Lyon and others who will "sadly" crap on, and the AFL itself and the other clubs.
He's moved on and that's his right. Not making a fuss, just not playing their game.

Lyon didn't say anything wrong . The Murdoch scum in Andrew Bolt , Rita Panahi and Meranda Divine are probably worse than 5 chins

I don't necessarily agree with the aforementioned trio on the Goodes issue but to label them as scum for having an opinion that differs from yours is uncalled for.

If you were to label people as scum who disagreed with you on a given subject matter then everyone would be scum on that basis.

Personally, the people I respect the least over the Goodes issue are the thousands that booed him around the country - they are the biggest offenders for mine.

Read what those scum said at the time and they are . It's about Adam.

Bob Murphy just spoke very well on Adam and was talking about sharing the changerooms with Brett Goodes who was shattered at the treatment of his brother .
Murphy is a good human.
Matt Priddis begged WCE supporters not to boo Goodes. They ignored him, their club captain.
I think the players were much better than the booing crowds and some of the media. Too many were afraid to speak up.
The AFL were weak as.

I've never quite obtained clarity in my own head about this issue.

I was at Optus stadium for the WCE v Swans game where the booing became an issue. And I didn't see it as a racist issue at the time. Nor, I suspect, did most in the crowd, who thought they'd just found a pantomime villain & decided to play along.

I was also at Optus last week for the Dreamtime game. The crowd was immersed in & showed enormous respect for indigenous culture. Again, I found myself thinking "this lot aren't racist".

And yet in the aftermath of the booing incident, I did reflect on what had happened to Adam in Victoria & how he must have felt about the resultant booing at Optus. And it saddened me.

I honestly don't believe those who booed at Optus were doing so out of racism. And yet, I think many came to regret their actions, having, in hindsight, come to understand the impact of those actions.

Adam Goodes is a champion both on & off the field. It really does sadden me that he feels unable to join the AFL Hall of Fame.

I know for a fact that at the time Shaun Burgoyne was pissed off with Adam for bringing unwanted attention to them , i don't know why.
Always wondered why Burgoyne had nothing to say at the time. Makes sense.
The guy who steps forward and speaks out often finds that the people on whose behalf he spoke don't thank him for it. They prefer to try to remain hidden.
Betts said recently that looking back he felt he should have said or done more. Not sure that would be in Eddie's nature. A gentle soul.
In any case, Adam paid a high price.

In fact Burgoyne was spewing . It was an internal source at the time who said he wouldn't repeat it if asked .

I don't think most were racist , just sheep who got sucked in to some calling him a diver and playing for frees . Kevin Sheedy said in support of Adam that he used to act for frees.
