I've just done the ladder predictor (which is mostly worthless because form can change quickly). Even with 1 or 2 losses for Dees and Port, we'd have to win every game from here I think to make top 4. This is what I think will happen if we just drop the 1 match (e.g. this week). With this, I then tipped we'd have to get past GWS, then Lions, Dogs and Cats away to win the flag. Monumental. Not really entertaining it.

To me that sounds like Pyke hasn't put his hand up but that the Pies have reached out to him.

I worry that we don't have enough in soft cap to support a head coaches wage for an assistant coach position. Yes Pykes talent will be targeted and we may be left without money in kitty

No they aren't, but they each brought so much enthusiasm and attack to the team, turning a previously rather stale team into something far more attacking and creative.

6th isn’t great, as it means a home final at the SCG.

Possible but unlikely. Geelong and Brisbane at home will be a different scenerio altogether compared to WC at Kardinia park but it is nice that there’s even a slight chance this could happen

I imagine Horse is one of the highest paid coaches going around. I would expect the board to come to him for a paycut in an attempt to keep Pyke should the need arise.

It does seem a wide field for the flag this year.

Dees have begun to wobble.
Cats are without Jeremy Cameron for a while.
Eagles done.
Dogs have questions over their back line.
Port beatable.

Lions look alright but we showed we can beat them.

Id still have us about 4th/5th favorite but definitely great to be in finals contention.

We will have to close the gap between our worst and best football considerably to be a chance at top 4 dont we have to win every game from here on?

neither's gulden ... but you get the sense from all of the likes of gulden, mcinerney, warner and wicks that they'd welcome a crack at finals, in fact they seem to play with almost a sense of fearlessness, the bigger the challenge the keener they are to take it on ... and that's four players with barely 50 games total between them (i think the total is 49) ... this squad is improving rapidly, as a group and as individuals ...
don't think any of the favourites would be keen to play us (or GWS, for that matter) in a final ... we've beaten three of them, and put port on notice ...
let's get to finals and see what happens

Oh definitely i think after the weekend it would be disappointing now if we were to miss the 8.

Butt then again the team on the weekend is largely the same team that put in a stinker against Hawthorn just 2 weeks ago.

Its tough to get a good real indication unless im a poor judge at the team.

Pyke is a multi gazillionaire and footy is his hobby. He will not be going anywhere for a dollar. Mitchell has already told the Pies to gagf and I expect Pyke would as well.
