Sounds like Pyke isn't going anywhere to me.

Video stating Pyke doesn't want to go through the interview process. If Collingwood want Pyke they need to offer him the role, he won't approach them

Yeah, interesting listen. Honestly though, can Collingwood offer Stephens $400k?
If they can, I think we got no shot of keeping him. As much as it would hurt to lose him, no use crying over spilt milk, if he wants to leave grab as good a pick as possible and back our recruiters. We have a very solid strike rate, and topping up on young talent is useful.

The kid hasn't established himself in afl so $400k is just ridiculous

What's a contract worth at Collingwood anyways?

Ask DeGoey, Treloar for their thoughts.

**** Collingwood

Let him walk, just further proof that the academies are needed. Victorian clubs target Victorian kids with large salaries which we can't compete with. There will always be a Victorian club who can chase a kid like Stephens and offer more than we can. If it's not Collingwood, it'll be North or Essendon or Carlton, etc. Don't blame Stephens if this is the case

Average AFL salary is around ~$350K

He's not an average AFL player yet, anything about 300 is overs.

Mongrel Punt always have a different perspective from the run of the mill AFL media. One assessment they do is looking at how successful a team is on the road.

Diluted by fixed early year rookie and draft pick salaries. What's the average if you exclude those?

The average would start skewing higher since you're removing the lower end.

How much higher, nfi.

Isn't the cap tight at the Pies also AND they need picks for a F/S that's going top 3 in the draft AFTER trading out their first round pick?

He'll walk to the Crows in the PSD before Collingwood even gets near him

Surely that would be impossible, last year Pies had to dump proven players to get their cap in order but are happy to pay a player yet to prove himself $400k a season? I call bullshit!
In all honesty I didn't listen but that's just got to be more made up crap.

Who said they are happy to pay him that

No idea, apparently that's what was said in the linked article.
The article just talked about how top 10 draftees contracts bump way higher than they used to, and Stephens, on the market, is worth about 400k. And I've heard that collingwood are interested in him. Though it does make more sense for the crows to try and pinch him.

Isn't Stephens South Australian?
