RSN interview with Gulden

A where are they now piece regarding delisted & retired players from '23. No Swans players are mentioned other than Franklin until you get to the summary at the end of the article which lists every team.

Good to see that everyone landed somewhere.

Totally agree about the long term extensions. Timing?
If you mean timing as in why do I think 'before the season'?

Well in Errol's case he essentially confirmed today the club were in talks with him. If a player wants to stay, there is not really any reason why it needs to take months and months to be confirmed.

He is going to get very well paid regardless of whether he signs now or mid season. There really isn't any need to wait. I just don't see him as a scenario where they are going to be haggling over money well into the season. So I would anticipate it to be sorted before the season or pretty early as leaving it out there would be an unnecessary distraction for everyone, including Errol.

As for Logan. Firstly, I don't think he is going anywhere. Despite what Fremantle supporters and most of the media seem to think. He has had multiple opportunities now to ask out if he was determined to go back to Perth. He had the perfect excuse after being dropped for the GF to ask out. He could have asked for a trade again last year when Freo had picks to get a deal done, but didn't.

So I think he is going to stay, and it makes sense for everyone to get these things sorted out before the season starts.

I can see why he might delay because his value could go up a lot this year, but on the other hand he also risks injury and his value going down. So I imagine the club and his management just work through a contract that sees him paid pretty well initially, but also with protections so that if he does explode and become one of the best forwards in the league then he is paid like it.

It is pretty similar to Errol in that I think it would be getting worked through now and will be sorted before, or early in, the season. It wouldn't shock me if we saw a bunch of re-signings around the round 'zero' game.

Yes, that's what I meant.
What you say sounds pretty right on all fronts. Especially the performance reward side. Both might prefer 4 years over a longer term to take them to free agency (if I have that timing right). I can't see the club lowballing them.

Heeney and Gulden are our top 2 players. Love to see it all come together for him in an injury free full season. He’s a pretty down to earth guy, poster boy stuff is a media label and not his doing. Hope you judge all our players the same way you do Heeney.
Couple of things Jack, because we all know YOU ARE FAST and could be out the door just as quick as you arrived.

IF You think Heeney is in our top 2 players put your well documented speed to use and hotfoot it down to Spec Savers.
Secondly if you stick around long enough you will establish I do judge all players like I judge Heeney. Nobody is spared.

Credit where it is due and called out where warranted. As far as an injury free full season goes Heeney would have appeared to have been injured his whole career if you listen to some of our medicos on here of which you seem to be the most recent addition.
Oh ! And Jack, remember, speed kills. God Speed.

Paywalled but exciting times!
The article actually says very little about JJ. This is the exert about him

New recruits Brodie Grundy and Taylor Adams may have received all the attention when joining the Swans, but it’s former Melbourne midfielder James Jordon who has made the biggest early impression in Sydney.

The 23-year-old joined the Swans during free agency after falling out of favour at Melbourne. Despite playing 65 games across the past three seasons, many of those appearances were as a substitute and he struggled for consistent midfield time.

However, he appears to have settled into Sydney life quickly with ‘JJ’ one of the standouts in Friday’s training session.

Spending plenty of time in the middle, Jordon’s speed and silky hands were on display. His kicking was also impressive, finding targets lace out and working hard to be an option across the ground.

His work garnered plenty of praise from his teammates, with many coming to the sidelines talking about how damaging ‘JJ’ was in the match simulation.

While likely on the fringes of Sydney’s best 22 upon joining the side, if he can continue to catch the eye in pre-season it’s likely he’ll force his way into the team for the season opener against his former side on March 7 at the SCG.
