I struggle massively with these comparisons. Each an every one is a champion and for me it's only when you get to a name where you say "nah, he doesn't belong in that company" that you can really draw a line with any kind of confidence.
Example Skilton was amazing but how would he go against today's defenders? We can't know and ultimately who cares? Same with Carey vs GAS vs Hart vs Franklin. Every one a champ. Who cares if one was 0.5% better than another?

Curse you and your logic KC.

For this whole "you can't compare players" line of thought casts into doubt the validity of the Craig Bird scale.

And when the Craig Bird scale is compromised, its a sad day indeed.

No dogs played , he kicked them off the wing and even half back , nothing to do with Buddy, anyhow off topic
Considering how buddy was brought up in a discussion about the best players since 200, and you brought up Ablett who retired nearly 30 years ago, I’d argue tay you are the one derailing the thread with off topic discussion

No-one was really sticking to the article's frame of reference.

And look if we're going with "since 200", then Ablett Snr fits, and there's not many who can comment on that time period as well as Bedders.

And Horse asking for effort and pressure and getting it.
Don’t mean to be pedantic, but I am pretty sure he asked for it at half time and then the pies scored 5 goals on us 😂

Jokes aside, it was fascinating to see Horse passionately asking for pressure and the team dropping off, but then Horse describing the win as one of the best he has been involved in.

There is a lot of context to that game and a whole lot of factors go into momentum in game, but I am starting to subscribe to the view that Horse probably got too close to the players and the “healthy fear factor” was no longer there.

I was heartened to hear Cox immediately speak about holding Warner to standards when asked about the contract situation. You can read too much into things but I think he was sending a signal that no one is above the law. This is a good thing.
