You sound like one of those supporters who goes down to the race and gives the players a standing ovation even after they've been beaten by 10 goals
And you’d be one of those who thinks the world is perfect and every kick every handball every split second decision is and should be 100% perfect on the footy field and if not absolutely trash that damn spud. Perspective is golden, what I look forward to is the new blood coming lets see what they got.

**** yes!
I want players that are capable of doing elite things!

Full list of Rookies from 2013 compares very well to Richmond IMO:

2013 Charlie Cameron, James Battersby, Jake Kelly, Alex Spina
2014 Reilly O’Brien Keenan Ramsay Anthony Wilson
2015 Jonathon Beech, Hugh Greenwood, Alex Keath
2016 Sam Shaw, Ben Jarman
2017 Patrick Wilson, Cam Ellis-Yolmen, Lachlan Murphy, Jackson Edwards
2018 Kieran Strachan, Paul Hunter, Jordan Butts
2019 Ben Keays, Ben Crocker
2020 B**** G****
I reckon it’s Richmond, Adelaide ……… then daylight 3rd. A big difference is that most of Richmond’s rookie successes are still with the club.
You missed that little guy we picked up in this year’s mid season draft.

Our ability to draft rookies that turn into regular senior players has historically been very good. It's our inability to do the same at the pointy end that's cost us. Dangerfield is the last elite player we drafted first round and that was 14 years ago. Let's hope Thilthorpe will make it two.
Daniel Talia, Tom Doedee, Brodie Smith are pretty decent selections outside the top 10.

That also has fallen apart in the last 7ish years. Pretty much everything did since we hired Fagan.

Really, what cost us has been an inability to create an attractive environment to entice people to stay, and that we ended up cooking our ability to develop players by continuously cheaping out on coaching hires/having a toxic GM etc.

It's a very long road back from that.

Fagan or Roo?
We complained that Fagan didn't understand football and didn't have a football background. We also complained that he left the football program to others. BUT then blame him for football decisions?

Roo oversaw all of this and yet has escaped scrutiny in the media. He is responsible for what we now see and he MUST be held accountable.

Ultimately, you are responsible as a CEO. After all the situation with Roo, Burton and co was allowed to fester under Fagans watch. The only thing I can credit him for is the external review really.

I'd like Roo gone as well. Probably the last name left on my list before I'm happy to close the book on the back end of the last decade.

Yes, since 2006, but Rendell was the recruiting manager until mid-2012. He wasn't calling the shots when Talia and Smith were drafted. He was scouting the east coast so wouldn't have even seen Smith that much.
Hamish was the head recruiter, I'm sure he saw plenty of these guys

Do you remember who the CEO was before Fagan? He certainly failed to deliver the best football department in the land, but he was a lot more successful than his predecessor and did less damage. Damage we are still dealing with at the moment.

Our rookie picks in the last 5 years have still be above average (Butts, Keays, Murphy, Greenwood, Keath)

But out of those lads the really only guenuine rookie pick is Butts..

the rest were mature agers and guys we already got to see something of before we picked them..

murph played for us and trained with us in the sanfl for a year before we rookied him..

keath and greenwood mature agers.

keays was a 2015 main draft pick 24.. that was delisted (and its slowly becoming evident why) by brisbane after we spoke to them and agreed to pick him up.. hardly a real rookie pick.

You missed the best of the lot in Laird though..

Ah yes, I forgot how having someone filling in for your SANFL side makes them an illegitimate rookie pick, much like plucking someone who played basketball for a few years.

If a team has used a rookie pick on you, you're a genuine rookie pick. It is as simple as that.
