Murphy isn't in our best 22 with fit and in form Stengle/McAdam. Himmelberg, Fog, Stengle, McAdam, Lynch, rotating mid spot. Then there's the small issue that we seem fixated on 3 key forwards. So we've already lost the rotating mid spot and are structured with 6 pure forwards.

I'd be trading Lynch, but I reckon that's sailed.

I was never implying that he 100% deserved another contract. I was implying that his level of performance hadn't dipped, its stayed steady. For people who like him its what's infuriating about him, for people who hate him its also what's infuriating about him.

For me I pretty much nothing him at this point of his career, he's a AFL standard player and great clubman, who does his job with adequate effectiveness which I can appreciate, but never expect any more as to never be disappointed. So it really doesn't effect me so much if he comes or goes.

For what its worth given the circumstance's I also do not believe he survives the list cull. Even though his performance this season remained exactly DMAC (which was enough to get him a 13 year AFL career) I feel like in a rebuilding side with a big draft hand and a need for blooding youth, his roster spot is too valuable for his age/output in 2021!

I personally think all small forwards should be part of the stoppage/midfield balance.

Helps them break away from defenders, create the space, and assists the midfield.


As great as Eddie was up forward his midfield/stoppage work was quite good too.

Eddie had amazing time and vision in traffic. Was the equal of Sam Mitchell for hitting short targets on both sides as well. Stengle is not disimilar in traffic, although I can't recall his left.

Eddie had amazing time and vision in traffic. Was the equal of Sam Mitchell for hitting short targets on both sides as well. Stengle is not disimilar in traffic, although I can't recall his left.

There is something very appealing to the idea of putting Stengle in the midfield as a pinch hitter. He certainly is a nightmare to tackle.
