if they want to take pay cuts to pay in a premiership.. maybe

other wise no
Highly doubtful that we'd have the money anyway, but I would be interested in knowing how much we would free up if jolly, dids, maxwell all retired along with Johnno and potential delistings/trades

Get Boyd, package Shaw, 1st round pick and someone else. (Blair, Goldsack, Paine whoever)

Retire maxwell, Didak, jolly, lynch?

Send Reid back to defend where he is AA.
Toovey back into defence.
Thomas back on a wing half fwd.
Young fit on a wing.

Ball and Beams fit all season.

I still think we will improve in 2014.

I would say didak maxwell and johnson would all be on very little

Jolly hard to say, was his contract front ended or back ended?

If we did sign thomas we'd have very little left over in the cap, certainly not enough to get a good FA target

Premierships are won from a solid defence, and we simply don't have one.

Were does everyone sit on the following? Unrealistic we will get rid of so much experience, so we would have to keep one or two(which will be Lynch and Maxwell(unfortunately).... but seriously massive changes are needed.

OUT: B.Johnson(retired), A.Krakoeur(retired), D.Jolly(retired), A.Didak(retired), N.Maxwell(forced out), Q.Lynch(forced out), M.Clarke(delist him, idc about his contract), C.Gault(delisted) B.Hudson(rookie retired), M.Hartley(rookie delisted), P.Yagmoor(rookie delisted) N.Brown(TRADED) = 12 list changes. 9 to the senior list.

*Promote S.Dwyer to the senior list, therefore requiring 8 more senior players, and 4 rookies.

IN: 4 National Draft Selections, J.White, N.Dalsanto, S.Docherty, T.Bellchambers
- 4 rookie selections(inc finding a KPD)

--- obviously some of the deals will be hard to get done. Ideally- We get Bellchambers for nothing through FA, White comes for a second rounder, Brown for Dalsanto and a 2nd rounder and on trade that for Docherty.

Dalsanto would be a great pickup... Will add experience that will be missing from all of the retirements, while also bringing that elite foot skill that we crave. I would line him up to play Half Back next season.

Docherty is a good little player who can offer a lot moving forward.

Alteratively will Bellchambers or white we could keep Jolly for one more year to play as insurance for Grundy, but i'd prefer to get both Bellcho and White in.

Get a KPF with our first selection in the draft and try and find a good crumber with our second, or get a VFL rookie who's a great goal sneak.

Senior Team
B: A.Toovey, L.Keefe, H.Shaw
HB: N.Dalsanto, B.Reid, M.Williams
C: D.Thomas, S.Pendlebury, H.O'brien
HF: S.Sidebottom, J.White, D.Swan
F: T.Bellchambers, T.Cloke, J.Elliott
R: B.Grundy, D.Beams, L.Ball
I: C.Young, A.Fasolo, J.Blair, J.Thomas

Reserve Team
B: S.Docherty, J.Frost, J.Ramsay
HB: J.Russell, *Rookie*, A.Oxley
C: P.Seedsman, B.Macaffer, B.Sinclair
HF: S.Dwyer, *Pick 11*, T.Broomhead
F: T.Goldsack, J.Paine, *3rd rounder/rookie*
R: J.Witts, B.Kennedy, B.Sinclair
I: B.Richmond,

Has anyone looked at Nick Malceski?

I would be throwing big money at him... in saying that he does have injury history, but his season has been phenomenal, and more importantly he is elite by foot.

Sydney would struggle to pay him what he is worth and with the likely retiring of some ageing stars on contract he could be a real steal.

I would definitely look at dal santo for the right price. There is confusion over his status but I am sure he would prefer being in our team to st kilda. Also get Luke ball in his ear. Dal is as soft as butter but he kicking is something we definitely could use.

Also would definitely look at colin sylvia. I reckon he would do very well at our club.

We don't really need any more hard at it players with poor skills. We have plenty of them. Just need players with decent skills. I don't care if they are soft outside players.

Can any of the knowledgeable draft watchers like Knightmare or Snoop give us a run down of who might be our best draft choices at 10 (or whatever our pick ends up).

Foot skills the priority.

That's a hellla lot of changes, although they look necessary with how some of the blokes are going. Not sure if we'll force Lynch out. Not sure on Kraks either. And I wouldn't be trading Brown just yet.
I don't mind your trade suggestions though. Is Docherty seeking AFL and not VFL? Unlikely we'll get all that done though! :p

whispers are dee's only get like end of first round pick if they get one.

That seems to be the general consensus however my gut says the AFL may be a little more generous based on the plethora of big names in the football dept recruited to the Dee's at the insistence of the AFL.

The Dee's will push hard for the best deal possible now that they have gone along way to satisfying the requests of Vlad and Co.

Shaw, Sidebottom, N Brown should all be on the trading block for starters - ideally for pick 1.

Thomas should be low balled considering he has done anything for 2 years and will be on the back end of a serious ankle injury. If he goes to Carlton then there will be cap relief & compensation pick in 1st round.

Didak & Jolly retired, Jolly on 400k when he signed so cap relief, maybe a one yr deal at minimum for insurance.
Hudson retired, Krak moved on. Maxwell steps aside and surely isn't best 22 every week in 2014.

Jolly wants out from what I'm told, wasn't happy to be the 3rd option over the last 2 or so weeks.
looking at finishing up where he started as a playing coach with Melbourne. Maybe a trade for a player who wants out there.

Didak has stated that he's going to the world cup, that will happen.

I think Collingwood will work with Thomas and get him to the club he wants to go to as a trade so he doesn't leave us hurting.

We'll put Shaw & Brown on the table, but only trade if the deal is right.

We need a key defender and a bit of pace around the ground, I also think someone like Colin Sylvia may look at coming to Collingwood to play finials.

Ruck stocks for the first time in 20 years are settled and right, Cloke needs a bit of help, but if we get a key defender and keep Brown, Reid will stay forward.

I also think that we need help in the coaches box, Buckley doesn't react and when he does its far too late.

So here's a link to all the free agents this year in case people havent read it...
http://www.afl.com.au/news/2013-05-21/where-your-clubs-free-agents-are-at

Some names that come to mind (also keeping in mind I have nfi about anything)...
Jason Porplyzia
Colin Sylvia
Nick Dal Santo
Mark LeCras - could be a perfect Didak replacement?
Adam Cooney - risky, maybe expensive... but if we are serious about a premiership he might be the class we need. Had a fairly good year.

The one I think we need to seriously consider is Dal Santo. His foot skills would be nice.

However, at this age we would not be wanting to pay overs for him.

I think Jessie White may find his way to us as well.

Of all the free agents, I want dal by far the most.

No thanks on Jessie white. Such a myth even after this season.

Don't think he'd offer any less than Lynch but is fair bit younger and heading into his peak so worth a look.

In terms of list changes, I think it could be:

Out: Jolly, Krakouer, Didak, Johnson, Clarke, Russell, Gault.

Dwyer and Marley onto senior list.

I'd like to give Yagmoor another go as I thought he improved this year.

If we get a guy like White then Lynch may be on the outer as well.

Doubt it very much, he would be on at least 450-500k, Captain of the club and they overrate him think he is top 5 player.
