Post being dropped is the wrong decision he is the future miller is not. Post can play back ruck forward miller can play one position and with only two key backs post should be there incase one gets injured or even browne for that matter.

Perhaps Post is not the future. Perhaps Post is not good enough.
Miller, at the moment, is good enough.
He turns 28 early next month. No, he's not a young player, but he's hardly in a wheelchair either.
People might have to get used to the fact that Miller could be around for the next three years unless someone else demands to take his spot.
So far, Post, nor anyone else, has done that.

Post has been dropped because he has carried his lazy ways and lack of interest from last year into 2011, his form in the 2s in no way warranted a selection in the seniors, as it was someone went down and he was the only logical choice we had who offered a little something in the ruck combating against Essendonds 3 rucks.

He's warming that spot for Griffiths. :D

Miller played plenty of footy at CHB when he was at the Dees.

Good example was half way into the second qtr and Houli speared a ball to the 50 arch, and Postie didnt really apply any effort except for a lazy arm stretch, BUT big Vick came through like a runaway train and took a terrific contested grab, then when back and slotted it.

At this stage Post is not the future, Miller is. Until someone stands tall and demands selection over Miller he is in the team to stay as vindicated by this weeks selection.

Great point.
Just because you're under 23 doesn't automatically make you the "future".you need to be able to perform your role.
That said if you're over 28 and can adequately perform yor role within the TEAM then you are the now and the future for as long as your performance warrants.

Eggsactly. :thumbsu:

Pretty simple really, Port doesn't have as many tall/key forwards as Essendon. So there is no point bringing in another tall defender if there not knocking down the door to be selected, which there not.

Yep and we may need more legs to run it out in the heat.... good decisions in my view although I do hope Post gets a longer run sometime this season (form warranting of course)

Unfortunately I think this is true.

Our lack of depth is a concern but not terribly surprising.
There'll be injuries etc. as the season progresses and we'll get to see how a few of these guys running around in the twos step up.

I don't think it is such a bad idea to be playing our best 22 each week.
Given that there is a chance that the Tigers may make it to the finals, and that experience could be invaluable going into next year.

Like the changes, Post provided very little and didn't come in on the back of great form in the 2's.

Miller being in the gives the young kids something to work for. They know and we know that he is not the future - but if he is playing better footy then them he plays.
Post, Astbury, Gourdis - these blokes need to get off their ass and have a real crack and string some form together to get selected.

I think it is better for these guys to need to work for their spots. It is hardly a step forward to give a young kid a go if he doesn't deserve it - and when he does get that go to not do the basics required at AFL level.

So is it ok to turn a blind eye to Lids 3 clangers, Dustys 4, Cotches 5 and Brownes 6?
Because Griggs' clangers are generally under little or no pressure. Little dinky run and receive from behind a Tiger player with the ball, and then he doesn't know what to do with it. He's actually much better with the ball when he doesn't have time to over analyse the situation, but to compare his clangers to those mentioned is insulting to them, and advertises a knowledge of football that you don't want to be associated with.

Who deserves to get dropped to have Webberley replace him?

Ah Farmer, because going by your criteria, he should never have been in the side to start with. He did not set the world alight at Coburg, and definitely carried that form into the game against the Bumbers (i.e. he was deplorable). Funnily enough, given his form at Coburg, he played to the standard that should have been expected (i.e. BAD decision by Dimma to select him). Hope he improves this week but I'm not sure he will.

Harsh on post didnt play bad last week and his form in the 2's was pretty good though went missing at times. Also people you dont get named as the emergency for sake of it you still have to earn it which posty did just didnt do it to the extent that warranted senior selection.

Clearly people with more say than you think otherwise

Yep because Vickery played the best game of his career on the weekend and Miller didn't play. If anything thing Miller is getting in the way of Development. I don't recall Miller playing last year when Jack won the Coleman???

Tone of your remarks suggest some deep-seated bias against Miller.
I ask the relevance of your post? So I can assume if Vickery comes out this week and tops last week's effort that Miller is the key?
Games aren't to be viewed in isolation, it's the season and seasons that counts.
One swallow doesn't make a summer!
You think Miller might have taught Vickery a thing or two?
Miller is holding his spot on form and I'm all for anyone being in our line-up if form warrants it!

The fact is Miller was brought in as insurance in case Astbury, Post and Griffiths didn't come on as quick as expected.
Well, Astbury's having 2nd-year blues, Griffiths is injured, and for whatever reason Post is not playing well enough in the 2s to push for selection. That's what you have insurance for.

Here's hoping Miller kicks a bag.
Could make for some very interesting reading on this board come late Saturday night... and probably for the majority of next week.

Re: Farmer
I hope he manages to rip his old side a new one the same way in which Lower did last week for Freo.

Spot on I could not agree more. Just wish more people would be as honest as you in regards to Post. Am i the only one that thinks that Post is the new Cleve Hughes. I see them as a match in just about every possible way. Also please note Madtiger and others Post on form for Coburg should not be playing for us. He is not in our best 22 either. Time people wake up to the fact of that.

Dont you mean that Post went missing alot in the 2's He currently is as useless as the Cleve man was. Should not of been playing last week on current form.

Post regularly gets off the ground...

I reckon all this Postie man love came from the fact that when he first came onto the scene he had the hair, facial and to some lesser degree body resemblance to Richo when he was a pup, and when he started to fly across a few packs and take some great grabs he then started to look like him as a player. Unfortunately that was short lived and we have been “waiting” for him to breakout ever since, and its something I just cannot see happening. The reference to Cleaver was great, he has all the tools, but lacks the killer instinct and drive to succeed at this level.
