Teams you think will definitely not make the 8

Lester, Bewick, McGrath, Maguire, Lisle, Paine, Lewis Taylor, Stef Martin, Wearden, Robertson- these guys would be outside most Brisbane fans' best 22. I think that's reasonable depth. At least it's spread to cover every position on the ground.

We probably had 7-8 best 22 out there on Thursday, but just two of our best 16 or so (Zorko, Mayes). When you consider there's about 45 on an AFL list, 26 playing in NAB games, there were 19 left on the sidelines. 14 of the 19 we left out are in our best 16, along with 4 first year players and no name Patrick Wearden. So I think what we can safely establish is that the Hawks would be quite a force in the NEAFL. Anything more is pretty pointless.
Also for the people saying our depth has been shown to be terrible, our depth was clearly better than GWS, GC or Sydney in the NEAFL for two years.

Deja Vu. Surely by now people must realise that they are just not very good?

Never said I thought it was likely, only that they are not building towards 2-3 years.

Didn't he kick 5 against Geelong. I thought he would be in their best 22.

Carlton's time is now, one way or another. They need to be making an impact over the next 1-2 years IMHO or they will be looking at taking a couple of steps back again to step forward three steps. Arguably they've had a successful changing of the guard - people forget just how bad they were several years back. Perhaps they need to reboot again to reach a higher level.
Well I say again and again. Malthouse was hired to win a premiership, not to rebuild and set up for years to come. Ratten had built the side, and was sacked because they didn't finish top four, which is where his bosses rated the squad he was coaching.

Obviously WS-Dees-Dogs are long odds to make the 8, IMO 2014 shaping up to be one of the most open seasons in a long time, Good luck picking the 8 this year guys.
