Teams you think will definitely not make the 8

Except you're not. You nearly lost to GWS and only beat Melbourne by 17 points. WC has just finished their pre-season.

Thankfully you're about to come up against a hopeless Adelaide side, so when they only beat you by a few goals you'll still have an excuse to keep believing.
I can't believe I ever doubted St. Kilda's genuine quality. To think that I wrote them off before they'd even embarrassed themselves at home with Adelaide, a team without a single win as yet...

Well Well Well....

Are you going to show up in this thread lamaros or are you too busy wiping the Easter eggs off your face?

Thread has gone pretty quiet.

Anyone still writing off our top 8 chances?

I'm all ears.

Yup - zero chance of the Saints making the 8.

Not saying you can't beat the Dogs by the way (before you come up with that incredibly witty retort). But neither of us are finals quality sides.

Saints have obviously done really well to win three games but I still don't see them anywhere near the finals. They're likely to tire in the second half of the year. May well beat Richmond though.

So what makes you so sure you'll beat Collingwood?

Well no one picked us to beat Essendon.

Collingwood are playing pretty good footy too and you'll probably start favourites against us, although the game is at Etihad which suits us more than Collingwood.

Even if we don't beat you we'll make it difficult for you to beat us, St Kilda v Collingwood games are usually pretty good battles. I think we'll put up a better fight against you than North did.

Well the Bulldogs definitely aren't a finals quality side after losing to Carlton.

Let's not get ahead of ourselves. We have to win 13-4 games this year to make the 8. We have another 10-11 to go.

I'm not saying we'll make the top 8, just saying you can't rule us out at this stage. We're playing better footy than some other more fancied top 8 contenders.

Just couldn't help yourself, could you? I had already explicitly acknowledged where the Dogs were at - even off the back of 2 wins. But you just had nothing else to come back with. So you went with it anyway. What a genius you are.

Note by the way, I'm not whinging about poor umpiring like you do every time your team loses. If you were a Dogs supporter you'd be on here calling for a Royal Commission. But I am realistic enough to know I follow a team that is currently mediocre, regardless of umpiring. This might be something to bear in mind as your team finds its level.

You mad that our team has gone past you in our rebuild? Or is it your prelim losses against us?

You mad...

I wouldn't necessarily bet on that and in fact Richo apparently mentioned a few times over the preseason that we would be stronger in the 2nd half of the year, as we get more used to the game-plan and so-on, I presume.

We are actually in a position where we don't have to keep relying on the likes of Dunstan and Templeton because we now have the likes of Mav Weller starting to really bang down the door in the VFL (Mav apparently had 39 possies, 10 tackles, 8 clearances and 3 goals, all while tagging , on the weekend) and there are plenty of others who could come in and give us at least as much as Eli has, even if it's just for a week or two, to give him a break, for instance.

With Steven and Schneider only playing their 2nd and first games of year respectively on the weekend (with both still short of match-fitness) and Fisher due back this week or next and then Armitage in about 2 weeks, the likes of Roberton, Savage, Lee, Siposs, Milera, Maister waiting in the wings for their chance, if required and Blake Acres and Daniel Markworth close to being ready to play senior footy now, we could just be warming up, depending on what sort of injury run we have for the rest of the year.

We still have significant scope for improvement this year and barring the Adelaide game, we have gotten better by the week, as you would probably expect from a team that is getting progressively closer to full-strength, getting more used to the game-plan and getting more confidence, momentum and and belief with every win.

Bloody hell, Plugger, do you have to be so combative and in everyone's faces all the time? How about we go with a bit of humility and let everyone else think whatever they like about us?

Did you read the disrespectful posts from people writing us off as wooden spooners before the season started or the arrogant Essendon supporter that wrote off our finals chances when we were 2-1, the same one that still hasn't had the guts to return to this thread since we beat them.

Some people are just copping what they deserve.

Old people don't like to start their sentences with conjunctions like 'are'.
