Teams you think will definitely not make the 8

Green, Staker, Brown, Mcgrath and Zorko all averaged 1-2 goals a game last season. Rockliff, Rich and Hanley all chip in aswell. As for the tall forwards, we recruited 3 over the ofseason (Mcguane, Paine, West), drafted one (Freeman), have Lisle waiting in the wings, and have the two 2nd yearers (Close & Paparone). Plenty of them there, just need one or two of them to come good.

I don't know how 7 goals from Rockliff can be considered chipping in. He is a good player but cant really be considered a goal kicker in any capacity. That included him playing forward quite a bit earlier in the season too.

GWS, Saints and Dees the only certainties to not make the 8. Doggies and Brisbane highly unlikely at this stage. All other teams would be genuinely expecting and aiming to plus finals, will be a good season.

West Coast would want minimal injuries IMO.

Big deciding factor for us.
It's hard to tell considering the new coach.. may be an adjustment year? If so, add us to the list I think.
GWS, St Kilda, GC (I dont quite think they are there yet, but I would be happy to see them make it), WB won't make it IMO

richmond made the finals last year and that only happens once a decade .... so add them

Considering Essendon beat Carlton twice last year Carlton should be penciled in as spoon favorites

In all seriousness Melbourne, GWS, Brisbane, Footscray and St Kilda look like having a long year, the best prospect out of this group are the Lions and the Dogs, i expect some improvement from Melbourne and GWS but not enough to make the eight.

I wouldn't totally write off St. Kilda, simply because they've got Alan Richardson coaching them. He was really tight with Ken Hinkley last year and will probably coach in a similar way, so if St. Kilda can just shut up and do what they're told and be grownups and do what Richo tells them he will extract everything out of them. And it just might be enough to sneak into 8th if absolutely everything goes right for them.

Not saying I think that will happen, just saying it's possible.

Fair to have an opinion but just wondering why not?
We went into round 23 with a chance to make it in 2013 after a shocking year.

Losing Walker for the year, Thompson played most of the year with an injury and Brent Reilly missed a lot of time, plus the whole Trigg/Tippett saga didnt exactly work for us. Plus it was common knowledge we focussed on the wrong things in preseason, meaning we were slow and unfit for the first half of the year.

I might be biased but I think we'll be well around the mark for that 6-10 position this year and I'm shocked to see us on the "will definitely not make" list.

As for my list... GWS, Saints, Melbourne, Bulldogs, Lions.
Thats as far as I'm willing to go at this stage.
