Re: Brad Ebert Part 2

I will be pissed if we do.

That would be way overs given our bargaining position. If we end up paying 28 I will be disappointed though not too much. If we pay more than that we have done poorly.

It may be overs for what you consider your bargaining position to be, but don't you think it is fair for what he is worth?

I would be interested to see what the answer is using the draft points table, I would say a pick around 22-24 (the 12 pick upgrade would be worth around a 4-6 pick upgrade on the pick 28).

That is less than where I put his value at, however it is a fair trade in the circumstances (there is not much else you can offer without paying overs and there is not much more we want apart from pick 6, which is overs). I think this is what so many West Coast supporters are annoyed at in this thread. Even with that trade we won't be getting value, however we will be at least be getting something. You guys seem to just want to screw us over and give us next to nothing. Surely you can all see how that would annoy us? More, surely you can see why the club would not want to do that? Even Carlton didn't want to **** us that much for the Judd trade and they were in an even stronger position.

Re: Brad Ebert Part 2

Just reported that rhode and daniher have decided to arm wrestle for him....:D

Nah, I heard they are both going to have a piggyback race with Woosha and Primus as the jockeys.

Poor Rhode, thats why you don't have ruckman as your coach.

Re: Brad Ebert Part 2

^ yer i heard that was 'reported' to...
But seeing as WC would have accepted Geelongs pick 24, why would we offer both picks when 28 is more then likely enough to get it done?
Sloppy (make up stuff as they go along) reporting id say

the non existand offer of 24!

what else is non existant?

I think 28 is about par for Ebert in terms of true value.

I want Port to negotiate the best deal we can for Port Adelaide FULL STOP. Just like West Coast would do to us if the boot was on the other foot. Given our position if we don't end up the winners out of this trade then we haven't done our job.

Re: Brad Ebert Part 2

daniel motlop board

Motlop is twice the player of Hill with twice as good an attitude.

This has probably been covered somewhere in this dreck of a thread, but why didn't port get Ebert as a Father/Son pick way back when?

Not accusing or anything...just historically curious. I suspect it's that stupid 200 game SANFL rule.

Yep. Russell is his uncle, not his father, and his father (Craig Ebert) only played a hundred and something games for Port. I think 99% of Port supporters would rather have an 100 game rule on PAFC players than a 200 game rule on 4 different SANFL clubs, but that's what the AFL have done so we're stuck with it.

It may be overs for what you consider your bargaining position to be, but don't you think it is fair for what he is worth?

Nope. I'd rather see him at Gold Coast than pay that for him.

28yo (so 4 years left at best) compared to 22yo (10 yrs at best) so best case scenario Hill has 2.5x the playing future time-wise.

likely that he will be delisted in 2yrs though! haha!

Re: Brad Ebert Part 2

Quick search on Brads Connection to Port Adel. And why it is stronger then WC fans relise!
Brad has connection On the paternal and maternal sides of his family, Brad Ebert has a heritage reaching 1204 games at the Port Adelaide Football Club - 164 by his great grandfather Ken Obst; 200 by his grandfather, 1967 Magarey Medallist Trevor Obst; 112 by his father Craig Ebert; 171 by his great uncle Peter Obst; 392 by his uncle, four-time Magarey Medallist Russell Ebert; 58 by his second cousin Andrew Obst and 107 by cousin Brett.

but he must be of great value to PA if that is how you see life.

Sorry, but Ebert will more than likely play more games than "pick 28". He is a steal at that price.

Exactly, you want to screw us over. This is why so many West Coast supporters on here have been pissed at Port supporters.

Just like West Coast would do to us if the boot was on the other foot. Given our position if we don't end up the winners out of this trade then we haven't done our job.

No we wouldn't. We always try and work out a fair trade. Please find an example where we didn't.

Pretty sure this has been posted multiple times in this thread.

Re: Brad Ebert Part 2

No, the view that matters is what he's actually worth. If Michael Pettigrew wanted out and he was highly rated within the club, that doesn't suddenly make him worth a second rounder.

Exactly what point are you trying to make with this strange statement?

If Port rated Pettigrew highly it would be because he has earned that right. He would have played 22 games this season and would have been played in the side to a similar extent as what Ebert has over the past 4 years.

But he hasn't, and so he isn't rated as highly as Ebert and hense isn't worth what Ebert is worth.

You have to earn respect and the rating a club puts on you and Ebert has.

Don't know why Port fans keep harping on about this. How are games by great uncles and second cousins in any way relevant? And if there was an uncle-nephew rule then Brandon Matera wouldn't have been in the red and gold this year.

Re: Brad Ebert Part 2

It's funny that West Coast fans are saying it's all Port's doing that this isnt going anywhere.

Not our fault you have declared no intrest in any of our players.

We are a young team with lots of young players and we need to rebuild through the draft. We cant do that without our draft picks. Giving you alf our picks, which you are'nt going to even use anyway makes no sense from our point of view.

Considering West Coast were top four this year, why the hell is Daniel Motlop not of any interest? He kicked 57 goals in 2008 which was a shitful year for Port, and you'd have to say that in a strong team a player with his skillset can be carried.

You talk about his 'problems' and 'attitude' but thats bullshit anyway and been widely talked up beyond all reasonable consideration.

Ever heard of Liam Jurrah? Stevie J?

Re: Brad Ebert Part 2

Just cannot understand how a trade like this takes so bloody long. Either Port want him or they don't. If the Eagles are prepared to accept pick 28, we should just crack on and be done with it and move onto other trade possibilities.

We have no interest in any of your players for a good reason , their all shit apart from a handfull which you wouldnt swap for ebert anyways..

Regarding Motlop hahaha please he's a fat lazy footballer that wouldnt last 10 minutes in our football club..

Fantastic. What's he done since 2008?

The Cornes brothers, Brogan, even Warren Tredrea probably had reasonable 2008 seasons as well. Doesn't mean we'd have the slightest bit of interest in them either.

Re: Brad Ebert Part 2

Looks like we will enter day 5 at this rate.

Does anyone actually know what goes on in trade week? What does Rohde and whoever is the football ops manager for WC, actually do?

It's like they just sit there saying

"We'll give you pick 33"

"No, we want 28"

"pick 33"

"No"

/day

*repeat the same thing the next day*
