Re: Brad Ebert Part 2

well there was your first mistake :D those guys know jack about anything thats not in Melbourne

but ill grant you that Mots would be worth a token pick at best, could be a useful forward backup...but whose gonna take the punt... noone really, when they can stick a project player on their list.

tis a shame really coz he was one of the most talented blokes ive ever seen play the game

Mistake, what mistake :p All I'm trying to say through that, is that no one has shown interest in Motlop (is it fair to say that they would at least know that no Melbourne club has shown interest? I believe so, maybe some don't) It has been publicly stated by WCE that they would not consider Motlop. He would not be the type of player that Freo chases.

I agree. I don't believe anyone will take the punt on him. I do believe that if he was still 26/27 there would be someone willing, but not at 30

Re: Brad Ebert Part 2

have they specifically stated that Motlop is what is being thrown around? any chance that it might be Pearce?

If it was pearce we'd want their first rounder as well as Ebert, so I doubt it.

Re: Brad Ebert Part 2

Ebert will play 150 + games for Port and will walk straight into their leadership group and could end up being their next captain. But no Port will not give picks 28 and 33 in a weak draft

Ebert is worth a pick between 15-20. Port should get their act together and package 33 with a player to upgrade to a top 20 pick. If they offered a top 20 pick to West Coast the trade gets done immediately.

But since they are dithering they will have to give up 28 and 33, and then West Coast who have an excellent record at trading can upgrade 28 or 33 themselves. West Coast need a top 20 draft pick and deserve one for Ebert case closed.

Re: Brad Ebert Part 2

It's not, media groupthink will tell you he's shit and since nobody watches Port games nobody will have noticed that he's improved significantly in 2011. I understand that. What is hard to understand is why anybody does want Josh Hill. Motlop is twice the player of Josh Hill, and Hill has a worse attitude than Motlop.

It's because Hill is 24 and Motlop is 30 and both are about as cheap as each other. Right or wrong any team would take the kid over the old bloke in this instance.

Couldn't be closer to the truth. He was... I am afraid that Motlop's future will be in a State league or country.

Re: Brad Ebert Part 2

What are the chances we pick up a 150 game player from pick 33? What are the chances Ebert becomes a 150 game player for Port?

33 is a rip off

check your list. cox, embley, lynch, selwood all over 150 games from later than pick 33. you have plenty of other players well on there way or likely to such as lecra, lycett, rosa.

i already had this out with another west coast supporter and managed to name close to a dozen players drafted late that were in or close to your 22.

stop spreading this misconception that there are no good players drafted outside the top 20-30 players.

Re: Brad Ebert Part 2

Lecras and Lycett were picked up before 33. Cox, Embley, Lynch and Selwood were all picked up when drafting was much more of a lottery. You wont see a player like Hird going at pick 70 odd ever again.

The % of players who reach 50 games after pick 30 is something like less then 25%

You're an idiot if you think there is a better chance of pick 33 playing 150 games than Ebert

Re: Brad Ebert Part 2

Probably better than your chances with a first rounder...

Glass, Kennedy, Naitanui, Kerr, Butler, Waters, Hurn, Shuey, Gaff, Darling, Masten isnt a bad set of first rounders (or PP) to have in your best 22 I would of thought

Port on the other hand . I doubt you have more then 6 on your list never mind in your 22

Re: Brad Ebert Part 2

Yet Eberts manager has said on more than one occasion Brad only wants to go to Port, hmmm i wonder why that is.

The first thing out of Brad Ebert's Manager's mouth is "Brad wants to go home", the second is "he wants to play for Port". Just like Gunston, he won't stand out of football or risk ending up in another State when push comes to shove and Port's bereft management can't get a deal done.

Gunston wanted Hawthorn, we got him there, but he would have taken North Melbourne. Stenglein desperately wanted to go home and his preference was the Eagles because he mates there, but he'd have taken Freo.

Same goes for Brad, you can talk tough until the tough talk doesn't work and then you take next best option .... one that still lands him home.

Listening to player managers is like listening to lawyers on your chances of winning a case or real estate agents on the value of your house.

You can't win with your trolling here aneale.

Ebert is rubbish, so if he goes to the Crows we'll all laugh at you.

So Stenglein got to WCE, Gunston got to Hawthorn so that is proof Ebert might not get to Port?

In which case you'd wonder why Port are wasting time on it rather than trying to get something elsewhere.

It could have used pick 6 and/or 28 to use in the mini draft to get guys that are better than those picks from this years draft.

You can't honestly say that come Monday at the end of trade week you'll be doing a lap of the room with your pants down over getting a crap KPP player who was turned into a nothing ruckman.

Port are either interested in Ebert or they are not, and its been telgraphed for weeks. How was this not the first trade done at 10am Monday morning?

all want to go 'home', and only those deluded to think that means a club (as that would make the second sentence about preference, redundant) (like Lightning Rod) can see that thats what happened.

Nick Stevens wanted to go home, his preference was Collingwood. But Port couldn't stop him finding a home somewhere because Victoria had all the PSD picks. Same goes for Judd.

WCE, Brad and his Manager will try and get him to Port. But what if WCE say that Port aren't serious and GC announce tomorrow they'd take him #1 in the PSD? If I was running the football department at Gold Coast and a 21yo midfielder who went first round was available, i'd expect to get sacked if I didn't call out his name given what the talent pool in the PSD is usually like.

What does Ebert do then?

Re: Brad Ebert Part 2

We don't need a pick in the mini-draft because we have pick 6 and apparently there is still quality at that pick. There is nothing special about the players in the mini-draft, they are just a year younger than normal draftees.

All we need is a backup for Lobbe and maybe a trade for Kornes. I don't care if we hold out till the last day, or if other clubs aren't trading, or if trade week is boring. Go outside or somethin.
And if he goes to Port ... you'll laugh at yourself:confused:
He won't. It's a done deal to Adelaide despite the fact he doesn't want to go there. Keep up!

Re: Brad Ebert Part 2

hey aneale, we're all soooo impressed the way u got reamed by the hawks for gunston..!Even more impressed with your club picking up a port supporter in brown who will come back to us, if we want him.And also impressed with your crows using 10 for a victorian kid who will run from your franchise as soon as he can like every other player you can't keep.

Re: Brad Ebert Part 2

The Ebert to Adelaide talk will at least keep Port honest. Just like the Clark to West Coast talk does nothing but keep Fremantle honest.

Both West Coast and Adelaide would do the trades that they have mentioned for both players (if Ebert decided he would rather go to SA then risk the PSD) so the threat is real.
