Whilst I get there will be unlucky players who miss out on a GF the Lipinski over Noble one really bothers me.
You know Noble will fight and scrap to the death, run till he drops and give everything he has.
Lipinski had 4 or 5 examples last week in such an important game, of shirking contests and missing simple tackles.
Team balance should not be an excuse to keep him in, bottom line is he should have been dropped.
I’m also worried of this has a flow on effect to the team harmony as well.

Disagree. He usually plays better in the second half when others have wilted a bit. They'll wilt still and he'll come on running even stronger in the second half than normal. It's not one in one in his role where he wears down an individual opponent. Like it
Lippa just doesn’t have that energy you’d like in as sub.

Presuming we get the luxury of being tactical and subbin late in the third, I feel like you’d give him a rousing rev up before sending him on, then he’d 3/4 plod to the flank.

JFN would singe the turf after being held back for so long.

I think you're looking for the wrong thing in a sub. He's going to get to a heap of contests and give us an outnumber quite often.

Which is great if we are in front, not so great if we are chasing. Fingers crossed by the time he’s needed we are well in front.

No it's great if we're chasing too, we flick it out and use an extra at the contest to get overlapping run from the contest.

Noble is a defender, Lipinski isn't. They don't compete for each other's spots.

I feel sorry for JFN and Adams. Both can rightfully claim a spot in Saturday's side.

If Adams was fit, Lipinski was out.

No idea who would come out for JFN, the defence is humming. Tis a cruel caper, the AFL.

When we have slow build ups, we tend to push our ruckman to the hotspot, which is often both of them together. There will be times where we have Cox, Cameron and Frampton all around the hot spot with slow entries, I reckon we’ll really stretch them for height.

But in our normal fast transition game, definitely lower the eyes, or take shots running inside 50.
If Gardiner plays I do think we can stretch them for height inside our attacking 50, as long as our talls work smart & get some separation from each other.

Frampton for McStay is a sensible change, though it comes with the risk of Frampton lacking finals experience. To maintain the size and balance of our team, he needed to be brought in.

Lipinski had a stinker for much of the PF, so he's lucky to hold on. Once Adams was ruled out, I think his spot was secure albeit as the sub.

It's getting real now...

Much preferable to going in strong favorurites and having any risk whatsoever of drinking our own bathwater. If Brisbane think they have the wood over us , then great.

Perfect. They've tipped us to lose every final so far. I'd be more concerned if they had us as the red hot favourites tbh. They've been consistently wrong all year.

We much prefer to be the underdogs & underestimated.

Go Pies 👊

Our run to the GF against Melb and Giants is a much better audition than Port and Carlton imo. Think we'll be ready for the pressure cooker
The Port game was absolutely the softest game all finals, the power were just totally cooked. And even then they hung with them for almost three quarters. And Ollie Lord, who is approximately 7 years old, imposed himself on the game and kicked four goals on Andrews.

The Blues were brave, but ultimately just a bit too exhausted to hold on. Again, they outplayed the lions for significant periods.

Meanwhile, we've had to overcome a demons side that was firing on all cylinders with Max Gawn playing the game of his life. And then the form side of the comp in GWS playing hard, inspired footy. And both times we've managed to control the game when it mattered, and play situational football to protect two narrow leads in insanely high pressure situations.

The GF may be won or lost a million different ways, and the lions are undoubtedly a good team. But if we're talking form leading into the game, then you're 100% right - we've had the hardest two finals opponents so far, and by a large margin. Brisbane have had two pretty soft kills, and struggled at times against both.

That’s because it’s hard to rationalise why Brisbane suck away from home, and particularly at the MCG. And yet, they do.

I have just got back home from the basketball tonight (bad luck Phoenix) and just heard the news that Ginni is in, with Lippa sub. Geez, I hope the coaching panel has got this right. JFN in my opinion, would have been better suited to be the sub. He would give us that extra pace and hardness around the ball, whereas Lippa's form has been very poor recently and he can't even seem to hold a tackle. I'm still going to back Lippa though. Hope he proves me wrong and kills it on Saturday. 🙏

There's been a lot of talk about Frampton being the safe choice, but I think the opposite. I think he's the riskier choice but the one most likely to get us goals from bombs to the hotspot. Ginni in the same boat. I think it's a really attacking team we've picked - designed for goals. We're going to take it on. This is a team for manic attacking footy.
Frampton clearly the safer choice, especially when you hear Fly mention his versatility (which was a touch concerning).

Kreuger would have been the most aggressive choice.

Fly says Subs are one of two things. Spark or insurance.
During Ginni's time as sub, it was spark.
Reckon with Lippa, it's insurance given he can play mid, wing, forward, and they may be expecting one of the older blokes will tire out in the heat so its insurance.
