Yep, whilst I agree that Clarko etc should have been questioned as part of the Hawthorn investigation, I think we need to keep in mind the power imbalance that (allegedly) allowed all this to happen in the first place. By the sounds of it, some of the players and families are in a worse place societally now than when they were aspiring AFL players. So if they didn't feel they could speak up publicly then why would they now without some kind of cloak of anonymity?

Anyone at Hawthorn FC will be able to piece together who they are so they will be aware they are making themselves known to some degree.

Hawthorn and the ABC clearly found the claims credible and consistent across a number of players and families. Let's not pretend this is someone anonymous posting an allegation on Twitter.

It seems odd that he hasn’t released a statement? You would think he would be in damage control considering he was an assistant during these allegations.

That makes sense though. You might want another chance at another club and you know calls will be made to Hawthorn to check your character. Or, maybe you are still just a kid trying to process it all and not realising how effed it all is because you're still in the footy bubble.

I was thinking the same. Although I thought I read somewhere on BF that the suspected whistleblower is someone no longer in the AFL system.

I did wonder the same. Not because of a lack of statements or anything else, but just that it seems to 'fit' with the way he's conducted himself at West Coast, and perhaps some of the timing lines up as well.

As I mentioned early on there was TV documentary about the orchestrated racist abuse against Chris Lewis by the Hawks during the Waverly GF. Some of the players were board members during the period in question. They are all in the media now.

Haven't seen the doco but I do remember reading that Lewis said he didn't cop any racist abuse until he started playing in Melbourne.
